I hate it.
If I'm forced to spend a day "relaxing" by sunbathing then you will find me firmly fixed under a sun shade of some description, preferably at a table so at least I can read or type on my iPad or something.
After about 45 minutes, boredom will reach extreme levels and I will have to go for a wander about, usually to obtain more drinks.
My girlfriend likes sunbathing so 'hot holidays' are usually a compromise of being somewhere where there is plenty to see and do including hiring a car and visiting places, combined with a token gesture of a couple of days of boredom, I mean sunbathing.

Well if you work hard and have a busy life, in this typical
Cold and wet country isn't it nice to just sit in the warm and switch off. Nlt
Think about life. Enjoy yourself like a holiday?
It's not for everyone but for 4 weeks a year it's a nice change. I go on holiday every January just to get away and think of nothing.

I find it very hard to do nothing, I get fidgety, bored and restless very quickly so going on holiday last year to Sardinia; wifes choice and our first ever mainly beach holiday, had me concerned.
We weren't intending on spending the whole 10 days on the beach, maybe 2 or 3 days tops, but I was getting concerned about how I was going to be on those 2 or 3 times, sat on the beach doing nothing.
Well I have to say I bloody loved it, I just went into this relaxing zone, soaking up the atmosphere, sounds, smells and sun, I would do it again.
One word of advice; when applying suncream, don't miss a 4" strip on the side of your torso from the waistband of your shorts up to your armpit, I have darker than your average Brit skin and tend not to burn, I was in agony for days and that missed bit was bright red, a year later there is still a very visible mark on my body.

I hate sitting on a beach, drives me nuts. I live right on the beach here in Guernsey and have set foot on it once in 15 years, to push my boat off it's trailer.
