Weather nerds are betting on a 'front loaded winter' - ie colder start, warmer finish.

Likely to be quite the Atlantic storm on Saturday night - this pleases me, as originally it was forecast on Sunday night, when I'm on a cross-channel ferry.

Just building a greenhouse, I think I'll leave the glass out for the time-being hehe

This MetOffice video is brilliant at explaining the uncertainty caused by hurricanes (and ex-hurricanes) for UK weather at this time of year. Hurricane Sam could cause us to have some great October weather - or pretty rubbish.

Bizarrely, we're hoping it joins the jet stream (and essentially pushes it away from the UK).

'Could' is the key word. It also 'could' hit 20 degrees.

I do recall snow in October at low levels in 2009 - I was driving down the M1 from Mansfield, and when I called in to Brackley to get petrol I had snow all over the front and people were staring at my car!

Was biblical in France too. Passed now and we're heading towards 20 degrees for rest of week.

Time to get the chainsaw out

Whereabouts are you?
In the Var everyone had to be off the road between 1300 and 1900 on Monday!
Between Tours and Le Mans. Long way from Var smile

Just catching up with the news from Italy.

740mm (29 inches) of rain in 12 hours.

Thats a staggering amount of water. A new European record.

A pleasant enough week, nothing noteworthy in terms of heat, but high pressure in charge, bringing in a northerly wind for Great Britain. Changes afoot for the last third of October - cool and unsettled on the cards.

Checked your boiler's working yet?

What a quaint antique heating system you have hehe I just check the pressure on the boiler, open a tap under the boiler and it fills the system up hehe

Where are you, your dads yacht!? We did drain the system the other year, and what came out was interesting. hehe
Had a new boiler installed last winter - none of that bleeding stuff required now! I have no idea on the technical aspects, just I don't need to bleed! House is 16 years old, so it's a fairly modern system away from the boiler.

Moving house in a week and we don't even know if the boiler works at the old new place.

That said and regardless, the first job is to get someone in and fit a full whole house aircon system!

You can always put a jumper on.
clap

Good luck Colin, we'll miss your hot weather moaning!

Interesting stat in respect to global warming. Of course, one season in one location does not mean anything.
