Ah, it's the GAU-8 (IIRC Gun Armament Unit) as fitted to the A-10 Tank buster. It fires depleted uranium core shells, and a burst can destroy a Tank. It's so awesome, they designed the plane around it, and it's bigger than a VW Beetle....

and it sounds like a really angry bee.
