Moving out of the Christmas thread, I have said that due to being totally skint, all I want for Christmas is to finish my lads toylander.

A couple of kind souls have said they have items which might help.

This thread is so as not to hijack the other one.

So, kind souls, remind me of what you may be able to help with, what you would like in return etc.

To those not viewing the other thread: I have the body built, a friend has offered to spray it for me, I need motors, badges, axles etc

Anyone able to help make Xmas happy fir my lad, following the year from hell.

Let me know what you want for the bits, I will sort something out

Many thanks

the steering rack would be very useful thanks, but I am going down the electric route (I think) just so he can use it more easily in the village.

With regards to the offers of help- many many thanks.

I gave to get the body from my old houses shed tomorrow, see what state it's in, and begin in earnest to get it ready.

I may well take you up in the kind offer!

I have a very large kettle and a fridge full of beer

I am also down the road (Middleton) and should be able to help.

If you want any vinyls for it etc, I can do those for you. Infact anything design related...can turn a spanner too though.
What sort of vinyl would stick to paint on a permanent basis?
I'm thinking square numberplates?

A kind offer- may ask for your help a little nearer the time if you don't mind?

nothing wanted for them, after all the fun i had with mine as a kid dont mind helping someone else make one. You can buy me a pint at next years le mans if i make it.
I would love the bits thanks.

Could you let me know a postage/courier price so I can pay that?

A beer at le mans seems a little light to me- how about a couple of bottles of wine in the square?
Ps- should gave a spare seat if you are stuck for transport there and back - a long way away yet though!!

He is 4 in January.
Loves anything to do with cars- not happy with me for selling the TVR and buying a saab!

Alas, little comprehension of finance (long may it continue) so as it's been the year from hell, I started it a while ago, and with the help offered on here should be do-able by Christmas.

His real interest is in Disney cars, but at 5 or 6 quid a pop for the more obscure ones, the landy is at the forefront for Santa!
I shall be cracking on next week after the next hospital appointment.

I'd be telling him to call Childline on that basis alone.
He can when I have finished talking to the Samaritans.

Will have another one day when healed, employed and generally less skint

Piglet,
That is a very kind offer, but alas I can't accept.

I have had a couple of emails from various (amazingly kind) PH'ers offering to donate some cash to this project.

I'm worried that it will sound rude, but pride would never allow me to.

I really do appreciate it- it's kind beyond belief- and yep, the year from hell. That said, I'm sure there are folk worse off than me- I'm lucky in having thick skin, a (somewhat warped) sense of humour, and the overwhelming feeling that we can only go in one direction.

Thanks again fir the offer, and please don't be offended by my post.

All the best to you and yours.

PS remember the spaniel incident very well. 2 days walking around near Luton.
If memory serves me, the dog turned up in the quarry? I walked through the day before- bloody spaniels

I knew you'd say that biggrin Pride isn't always a good thing you know....

Your "thick skinned" joke is pretty good for a man in your condition!
Piglet, if I couldn't laugh I would truly be fked.
Sometimes things just don't go right, can only get better now (sooner may be better than later)

Oh, and it's pride- not gay pride!!

Emsman where are you based?

I know i'm still a Newbie of sorts on here but your accident pr
one lifestyle has made me chuckle quite alot! I'm quite handy with a spray gun if you need help on that front?
Many thanks for the offer.

I have a friend who is taking it to their bodyshop to give it the correct shade of land rover green, and will lacquer it too to protect it.

Thanks very much fir the offer though- very much appreciated.

For the record I'm just outside of sunny Milton Keynes.

Ps. Glad I amuse someone!!!

project and mat.

Will glady and with some huge measure of gratitute accept all of the bits.

Everything will have a use at some stage- electric may be replaced by good old petrol in the future.

Delivery would be superb- been on here a while and good to finally meet a few folk.

(don't look too much like john merrick despite the burns!)

Don't know one end of a spanner from the other, and have no parts for the Toylander. However I'm only 7 miles from Bedford, so not too far from you. If you need something picking up or need a lift to pick up some parts. Give me a shout via email.
Sir, that may be a godsend. Realifetoys are based in st neots.

not too bad thanks.

Wondering when I might manage not smashing myself up for axweek or so though!

It would be a welcome change.

My knuckles are piss poor since I got run over some years ago.

With some irony, that's the reason I opened the fuel with my right hand on burns night (as it's now known!)

Had them popped back into place this morning, really really painful, but in the overall scheme of things I suppose it's not too bad.

Project update:

Finally got the bits out of the shed at the old house.

Looks like Xmas is cancelled this year.

The bulkhead is warped, a couple of key bits ate damp and it's not looking good.

I still have the plans, but neither the money to buy new MDF, the means to transport it home, or due to falling down stairs yesterday, the dexterity to make a new one from scratch- which would be doable if a push.

Next plea: does anyone have a sheet of moisture resistant MDF going spare (along with 28 ft of 1 inch batten)?

Only kidding. Going into the garden/shed now to see what can be salvaged.

Bloody kids, I was happy with action man

having scratched my head (and smacked my ear on the shed door causing bleeding and foul language) the sides seem ok, as do the wing panels etc.
The problem area is the bulkhead as the screen sits on it. It's really warped so I'm going to clamp it tonight to see if I get get it back anywhere near straight.
If not, I shall have to attempt to disassemble the whole thing in order to put a new panel in.

My offer of spraying has also fallen through, so if the offer of a spray is still on, I may ask for help on that front too.

Can't post a picture as I'm using a sodding iphone

I have the benefit of being unemployed and partially lame so will attempt to crack on in the morning.

Now, where did I put my power tools???

All joking aside, anyone that can/ does help in any way whatsoever is reminded that I only have my lad once a fortnight fir the weekend.
Anyone that wants to take it for their own kids is welcome to borrow it in the days inbetween.
