I'm kind of bored at work and decided that it might be cool to change my first name by deed poll.

So, can anyone suggest a cool first name that has to fulfil certain criteria:

  • Must be acceptable in a professional enviroment
  • Not rude
  • Memorable
  • A guys name
  • Goes with the rest of my name - XXXXXXX Robert Mitchell (I don't really use my middle name though)
Please remember, I have to live with it.

E.T.A. I'm trying for something cool like Zane, Carter, Rhys, Blake etc

And go....

We need to know your surname. We wouldn't want to end up thinking of a great first name which then pairs badly with your surname, Teresa Green stylee.

Lord, Baron, Admiral, Viscount etc
Apparently you're not allowed to use titles that you are not entitled to i.e. Lord, Sir, Duke etc

I'm really looking for English language based names. I'm not racist or anything but I don't really fancy Xiu-Lou Robert Mitchell or the like.

Tarquin is a much underused name these days

I take it you don't want to use Robert (or Bob or Bobbie, etc) as your preferred name?
Many people prefer to be called by their middle name.
Chris w666 and JonRB, I think your on to something now.

Tarquin is a name that ticks all the boxes and is the name of a character in one of my all time favourite YouTube videos:

The Chin Review

Within 20 seconds I had tears in my eyes. Comedy gold. Not specifically because of the content, the execution
There are 4 episodes and the first isn't even the funniest.

Okay, so Tarquin makes the shortlist.

I sense a poll thread coming on when we get down to 5 suggestions.

Right, I've narrowed the list down to seven:

Xander
Tarquin
Kane
Orson
Trevor
Horatio
Wraith

Anymore?

I'm starting to think I may make the final choice an additional middle name.
The idea of losing my original first name is quite daunting.
