Just keeping this separate from the other drinking thread...
I am going to stay dry through September on order to save some money and to try an loose a couple of kg to buy some new bike wheels and to get to a racing weight.
Anyone else fancy joining me?
I managed dry January but an evening beer, especially when working away, has become a bit too routine.
I'll keep this thread updated with progress!

Haven't had a drink since 1st August, same reasons as OP - save a few quid and possibly lose a few kg. So far first has been achieved, but I'm very surprised that so far no weight loss, considering I was drinking every day for months before. In fact I'm surprised that I hardly feel any difference for the abstension. Doesn't everyone tell us "Oh you'll feel bright eyed and bushy tailed when you stop boozing"? Hmph.
I'm thinking of giving this a try to be honest. It seems to be too easy at the moment just to go out "for a quiet few". I drink every weekend, but mainly because me and the wife have a good social life and meet up with friends a lot.
However, September is a quiet month for us so it would be easier to do.
I'll let you know how I get on too!

Im thinking of doing 'Sober for October'
Im hoping to:
Save some Cash
Loose some weight (im just under 13st, i want to loose a little tummy fat rather than weight)
Raise some money for charidee.
Im not sure what charity to raise for. I would usually opt for Help for heroes, but might do it for something else.
I enjoy a drink or two in the evening, and i fear the hardest thing will be having a drink out of habit!
OP I wish you the best of luck and i look forward to see how you get on.

Have been looking for the smallest of excuses for a while now. Somehow I don't think drinking a bottle of wine a night is the best thing in the world for me right now so why not, I'm in ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
May also confess to casually checking calendar to see how many more nights of enjoying a drink I have left!

Well today's the day!
I prepared last night by ensuring that we have fresh bread and milk so that I don't have to pop to the shop tonight and pass the 3 bottles of ale for £5 shelf. I also did all the ironing as I usually have a beer to get me through the basket of creased shirts.
I fitted all my winter lights to the bike too so that I can go for a ride this evening - to take my mind off not drinking and then have a piece of cake and a cup of tea when I get back.
