and todays weighing has gone the wrong way... I did have a pizza at 9pm Thursday.... this cant be done with just exercise. I need to control the diet side of things better.

Smokey you are well ahead, for now

as mentioned above, lots of us will be struggling. The weather also doesn't help with motivation.

i've got a double marathon in 3 and a bit months, and even that isnt keeping me from sitting in my new comfy chairs and type on here. I also have a fully working garage gym with lots of kit and a 24/7 pure gym membership...

Can you share this research?
It's all out there. smile

It's worth investigating your train of thought
I think my post explains my train of thought quite explicitly?
You've asserted the article is dodgy and stated there's an abundance of research that proves it incorrect/questionable. I'm kindly asking you to provide the research you're referring too so we can have an open discussion about the merits of both views.

I mean this in the most collaborative way, I'm personally always willing to be challenged or challenge research like I posted earlier in the thread. It may contain unreasonable bias or incorrect conclusions and ideally it could be challenged in a reasonable way.
Yes, very good. I have no intention of regurgitating the fundamental facts about energy expenditure, the effects of exercise on metabolism and physiology and how the human body manages this, it's schoolchild GCSE material.
Ok cheers, I respect that’s your position.

I’ve been evening fasting & have lowered calories as of late due as doing a lot less exercise (new born, masters degree, 3 dogs etc).

I’m not unhappy with my current weight 5’11/14st 5 but will aim to lose a little fat around my waist. Currently in 34 trousers and should be in 32.
i too have a newborn, 3 huskies and studying for an MBA.... are we related

So you have an event booked were you have to run 52 and a bit miles in one go ?
Yes. It's called race to the tower. We are going for the all in one go event....

Pizza for dinner tonight. Still no electricity at home. No confident for it being back on tomorrow either.

Having to eat out is great, but rubbish for weight loss. biggrin
I don't mind.... The gap might close... Tonight I resisted temptation to eat something at 8.30pm.... it was hard, but I abstained

If you'll forgive me answering a question you didn't ask... I did Race to the Tower in 2018. Happy to answer any questions that may arise, explain my training etc.

For S&G, here's a link to my race report from the Running thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Definitely look forward to it, but definitely train well for it or it'll be a world of pain. The second half is harder than the first.
thank you Smitters, thats an awesome write up and will be very valuable!

I'm still very impressed by those who've avoided alcohol this year so far.

I've been better this week, only once in the pub and no take aways. Relatively good eating most days as well.

Down this week which is a nice change from the last few weeks.
I've avoided alcohol for 18 years. It really isn't difficult.

So today I have walked 3.65m this afternoon pushing my boy in his pushchair, and this evening a 2.64 miles followed by a 5.67m run straight after (without stopping).

So, I'd like to think even eating at the big M three times (I havent eaten here once today) I'd have a calorie deficit biggrin

Not lost any weight, but easily into my 32" waist jeans now. Was looking like I was going to have to buy some 36" at one point last year.
I've for plenty of 36 ones available

I don’t really know how it happened, but this last week + a day I lost 5.4lbs taking me to 200.6lbs.

I haven’t been 200lbs or under for quite some time.

Another 16.6lbs to go!
excellent work! biggrin
