You don't get scars now do you? As they take individual hairs rather than cutting a strip of skin (yikes).

And apparently that is the biggest myth, that one operation is sufficient so it's not £5k (or whatever), it's 3x£5k. Especially if young and still thinning.

You need to hit all angles really, start using Nizoral shampoo 2/3 times a week, get your hands on finasteride, and RU58841. Research loads on how to use them and you will see results!

Or just buy some clippers and shave it once a week.

I'll be going ahead with a hair transplant with a Harley St Clinic in mid July. Just want my hair back!

More money than sense mate , get the clippers down a notch or two and remove that clump in the middle , job done then buy a new toy or vacation with the money you've not spent . Don't be a tart

Indeed.

Having hair or no hair doesn't change who you are.

Very true, I’m not bothered but I also have a full head of hair so I haven’t had to cross that bridge yet. However for my brother it really affected his mental health, silly I think but that’s how it is for loads of people.

My choice mate. Not precious about much but hair matters imo... I really don't suit the bald look.

No idea On how they do it these days, he had a strip cut out, so I thought that’s how they do it. Only issue I can think of is that whilst the hair transplanted will stay all the hair around it will fall out which will look really daft unless you have loads of procedures

Do you think with your brother the stress is coming from desperately trying to hold onto his hair rather than accepting it's going and closing the page on that chapter ?

It's like being 39 and dreading hitting 40 , you can't do anything about it , we are all getting older and changing.

It's all well and good being able to say just shave it mate.

I've had good hair up until circa 45 when work stress affected me. Maybe it'll come back? Who knows but I'm happy shaving it off anyway.

I can very well see that others might not be able to. It's part of your appearance, how you look. It has a big impact on your confidence. In alot of jobs having a shaved head isn't a good look either.

I suspect so. Once you accept that the hair is gone, and that it doesn't make that much difference, other than being much more convenient, you just move on.

I must admit that reaching 30 or 40 wasn't traumatic for me either, though.

Is it work stress or just natural to loose hair as you get older ?

I'm 46 and noticed the crowns thinning a bit so I've embraced the lock down to do a grade 3 ( looks st like a slazenger tennis ball) to a grade 1 and I'm tempted to go zero.

Think the key is as the top goes grow some sort of beard to avoid the egg look.

It's been a revelation for me not having to blow dry it and use pomade for a hard parting or clay if it's a french crop now I get out the shower and it's ready to go .

Makes no sense.

In your pics, you had a baby in background. So assuming you are in a relationship?

So you aren't dating and so dont have the pressure of needing to look good to attract someone.

Hair transplants will only get cheaper, methods will only improve and who knows what other treatments may come along in next decade.

Whats the rush?

My advice? Cut it a bit shorter and get on with life. If you end up single in future, consider it then.

My hair is thinning with age, but I'm in no rush to address it. Would rather spend time with it cut short and then see how much it actually bothers me. I suspect if I do end up bald, I will just get used to it and forget about it.

Lastly, if you are in Leicester, wouldn't it be cheaper to do it up north? In Manchester or Leeds for example rather than London which will charge the most.

But you think like me , it's just hair .

I can see Leicester Dave feels differently to us but we can't say he's wrong if it really effects him .

Watch a few of those bald cafe youtube vids and you get the majority who are unsure if they should go shaved/bald they build up and clipper off the sides before the middle so up to doing the middle bit they have a way out.

Then you get the mavericks who just plough into the middle bit with no second thoughts .

I really don't get that bit- so because I am in a relationship it means I can forget about my looks at how it makes me feel? I still like to be able to style my hair- not just for the other half- but just for everyday life. Just makes me feel better, simple really!
