Hi guys hope you are all well !
Update from me I stopped taking my meds about 6 weeks ago because they were making my Tinnitus worse but the GP's have told me its now within their acceptable parameters so I won be put on anything else.
BP Is hovering around 118/82.
Hopefully with continued exercise and weight loss as well as cutting down on Caffeine I'll manage to get it a bit lower.

Used to have a BP monitor but binned it a while ago as it stopped working.
This thread encouraged me to buy another. Omron M7.
I kept a record of my BP after having it measured as part of a medical in April 2018. It was 125/82.
Taken a few readings now, and it's 140/102 and 139/101 over 2 x 3 readings.
Not particularly good. Grade 2 hypertension according to the machine.
I'm going to keep measuring and try to make some lifestyle adjustments. Bit less drinking and some exercise perhaps.
Edit: in my 40s.

Number2: I have not drunk much alcohol for a few years now (go weeks without a drop, then maybe a pint or two on a “heavy” afternoon). I own an Aktiia wrist-based BP monitor and find alcohol has the effect of increasing both my diatomic and systolic BPs by a few points. Effect is increased proportionately with alcohol increase.

Being dry during the week, dropping a few stone, running 4 times a week and a few diet tweaks and mine averages in the high end of 'normal'.
I generally ate a good balanced diet but I have now cut out all the snacks etc we would have in the office and make sure to eat fruit and veg daily that are high in potassium. This helps your body regulate blood pressure naturally

Went to docs on Monday, they measured BP of 150/115 and pulse 100+. Did an ECG and asked me if I felt any pains in my chest. I did have a mild ache but I put that down to one of my normal 'getting older' occasional aches.
Nevertheless - from seeing all my home readings too - they packed me off to A&E as a precaution.
Long time in A&E but bloods and ECG were fine. BP was 160/? but it was close to 2am when I left.
Anyway, prior to going to the docs I decided to make some lifestyle changes anyway... as you say Rich, regular drinking I think is one of the key drivers to my BP, so I'm knocking that on the head during the week and also tweaking my diet. Will try to move a bit more too.
I only started measuring my BP (this time round) on the Saturday so maybe the weekend and following Monday weren't representative. Anyway, my BP has been edging down a tad already today - no drinks since Sunday afternoon.
Measuring my BP gave me the kick I needed to be a bit more sensible, so well worth doing.

I was told that something like 115 for the lower figure could prove serious. That's good to hear. 124/86 is a BP I can only dream about!
Mine is always nearer 155/105 even with medication. My doctor has just added Amlopidine (5mg) which I'm hoping will have a more dramatic effect.
I'm down about a stone in weight, but need to lose another couple before I'll be happy.
Hope you get it sorted soon mines a bit higher in the mornings but been around the same or a bit less at night. Seems to be on a downward curve ... I'm wondering if the virus I had a couple of weeks ago had bumped it up ?
I still had the mother of sore throats when the nurse at the walk-in took the first reading.
The Amlopidine certainly seems to be helping. Been on it 2 days and my pressure is 140/95. The doctor wants me to be on it a week before formally reporting back. At my initial consultation he did say I will probably be on 10mg to sort it out properly.
I'll be happy just to see it in the 130/90 area

That's new meds (Amlopidine). Been eating healthy food, cut back on alcohol, and have been going to the gym regularly.
I feel so much better generally as a result of the weight loss, and lack of crap food/drink.
I really want to concentrate on losing more weight now.
Bit of an update from me .... Everything was going very well exercising, losing weight stopped booze etc then not long after my last post on here I caught Covid and it all went to pot.
Was off work around 6 weeks pretty much doing nothing at home and blood pressure on the increase put a stone + on in weight.
Took me around a year to start getting back into the swing of things then lost my mum in Feb and it all went to pot again.
I've started walking again and cutting down on the comfort eating but have put taking my blood pressure off because I thought it would be sky high.
Fearing the worst I strapped the armband on today and the reading was ..... 117/74 one reading slightly above and one slightly below.
Stuck that into the NHS app and it was in the green I'm pretty pleased with that !
