I havent ever heard of the blood pooling..surely all the muscular contractions force the blood to be pumped around the body. Apart from that the plan look good.
I'm not saying it is 100% true, just what he said. I don't have any reason to doubt him, and he was part of a pretty serious rowing crew, but not a medical professional.

it could be true but never heard of it so far. I know some serious rowers and they all do some pretty long stuff. Heyho!...you live and learn.

I don't think my bum can last much more than 15 minutes before I have to get up to ease the pain! I think those that can manage an hour in one sitting, so to speak, must have more natural padding than me - or use a good cushion! wink

Do as much as you can! I tried the heart rate piece tonight ....50 mins at 2x resting HR then 10 sprint pulls. Waiting till ht drop back to twice resting and keep going til done. It's a fat burning set but not as tiring as my other piece of 10+1 every 2:30. But terry oneill knows what he's in about!

As above - just got back from the gym:

5000m , level 10 , 20:49

Want to crack the 20 minute barrier, found it much easier setting the pace boat.

Has anyone spent time playing the fishing game ?

Ten times 1k with 3 mins rest between. Managed all in 1:49's per 500m splits. MHR was 165 and got it down to approx 100 each rest period. That was tough but I needed to push a bit harder for longer than usual.

Thirty mins at 20 strokes per minute tonight. Good eat to strengthen the rowing muscles. Managed 7500.

Wish we had the games and stuff, our gyms Concept2s have only got the basic PM3.

Had a week away, came back today and put in a 20:56 for the 5k, albeit on level 7 (not found much of a difference in pace between 7 and 10). Definitely felt slow, and my legs were aching like mad right after.

Just bought another concept 2. It's only a c but was recond by c2 and so has pm3 etc.
I bought it off a vicar who has used it 3 times for a total of under 4 mins! :-)

Had the weekend off and just did a 5km in 21:12 without any pace making. When I realised I was going slow put in a 1:40 for last 500m

Managing to keep my cruising stroke rate at 20spm whilst still doing just over 2 minutes for 500m - is this a good strategy?

I think its good...what you also do is increase the distance. Then every 2:30 put in 10 hard strokes and back off. Nice way to approach longer stuff and gets the HR up and down.

Feels more like rowing on water apparently but I think we've talked about this before.

Gazzab, good show. Why don't you checkout the Row Pro software, that'll make three of us then with MacGee.

1000m level 5 : 4.21.

Not sure if that's any good or not.

it depends on your level of fitness and age etc. but a good place to start. keep that number in your head and see if you can beat it next week.

Fifty mins with bursts every two mins thirty. Ave was 2:00 pace. Doing this for calorie burn!
