Oi Spoony you fat gimp, are we all updating our weights on Saturday each week? Since that's the day we started?
Yes. Once weekly for you to whip us extra hard

But well done for at least thinking about your choice.

Low carb is the way we're all going to win at this. Says the bloke going out for a curry in a minute. But I have only (honestly) had two cups of coffee and a cup of tea all day.

I shall not be having a starter or dessert.

I am hoping for a non-linear curve to my weight loss journey - i.e. I eat all of the Christmas food before getting into diet proper, so I don’t think the first couple of weeks will show any improvement..!

Count me in please.

87.7kg this morning. I'm only 5'6" ;-)

I'd like to be 80kg when we head to LA in mid-August. So I've settled on 86 at the end of this month and then 1kg a month from then on.

I average 2 x 7k and 1 x 11k runs every week and I've been doing 15-20-min kettlebell/dumbbell exercises on YT 2-3 times a week which has helped matters - I was 90-odd kg before completing C25K and discovering Parkrun at the end of 2019 then increasing my kms over 2020/21.

But now it's time to make sure those weights sessions are 3 times a week and to begin cutting some calories - I've singled out my daily evening pud and glass of iced coffee as the first culprits. Skipping lunch should be obvious as well - I've been doing that thing of not having any coffee or breakfast until 11 . . . but I still manage to squeeze my lunch in as well around 2!

Just one problem right now . . . positive LFT + PCR on NYE so I'm housebound until at least Friday.

Good luck everyone!

I'm in. I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been and am utterly ashamed! I've never been the slimmest of Jims but at a underwhelming 5'10" and a staggering 18st 12lb this is fking ridiculous!

That really is 50g. No wonder I'm a fatty.

I weighed out my Frosties yesterday for a normal bowl for me.

200g! Four times the recommended size! Whoops.

I’ll be jumping on the scales tomorrow and then my weigh in will be every ten days (my first early shift).

I’ve worked out my Macros and I’m allowed just under 3,000 calories a day to lose some weight. Someone at work has kindly given me a work out plan as well. Going to have to modify it slightly as the work gym is st, but should be able to do most of it.

My long term aim is 100KG. A KG a week for the year will see me do that easily. I may reassess when I get to 115KG as last time I got to 100KG I made myself ill. Plus at 6ft 4 I can hide weight reasonably well.

Count me in however I have problems: rheumatism and arthritis, so exercise is often difficult, if not impossible. I'm 72 and this morning weighed in at 108.1kgs, the heaviest I've been in years but, as someone once wrote, "You don't see any fat old men." With your help and encouragement I'd very much like to be a slimmer older man.

So I'll give it a go but it'll all have to be done with dieting and the occasional half hour on my exercise bike, hips and knees permitting.

ETA: I'm hoping to lose 10kg short term with a target weight of 90kg by this time next year.

What do you think is a reasonable monthly target?
I know I can drop one kg every week, I've done that before but I'm currently aiming for one kg per month for a year and a half. Hopefully that'll be easily maintained over the longer term.

2019 I completed Zurich Ironman, I was 82kg (at the start). Now a mere two years later I am 93kg. So count me in. Booze is my principle enemy. So I am having a dry January for a kick off.

Count me in, great thread.

Please be super careful with the calorie counting apps - they are great for food intake, but pretty terrible for exercise calories , routinely over estimate. No one burns 800 calories walking for an hour. I’d be surprised if it was even 400.

Try this https://burned-calories.com/sport/walking-4-mph

Good luck to all, am off to find my bike pump !

If anybody is interested, if you have an Apple Watch, then a lot of trial and error has led me to these apps (AppStore):

Exercise tracking

WorkOutdoors : http://workoutdoors.net/ - Worth the £5 cost alone for the OS footpaths/rights of way it shows on the maps (green dots on the screenshots in the above link). As above post, an hour's walk on a flat is c.360kcal (98kg). Sinks with Apple Health

Calorie Counting

Lose It! : https://www.loseit.com/ - use the free version, sinks with Apple Health and WorkOutdoors. Barcode scanner works on UK foods so really easy to use.

Lifting

Strong : https://www.strong.app/ - Just a really simple stupid app to track sets and reps. It just works. Free version gives you two customisable workouts plus the standard 5X5 routine. Also sinks with Apple Health

As expected weighed today 14.3 stone which is 91kg now at 6ft 4 not even in the overweight catogory but I certainly don't feel great and it's the heaviest I've been. I would certainly like to get too 80kg.

One thing that may work if the members want too is add your location you live and may find others local that could meet up and help in the goal to lose the pounds I would be happy to do that.

Well done to all those who’ve gotten some activity under their belts.

I went for a PCR on New Year’s Eve which came back positive today. So I’m isolating til Weds at the earliest as my symptoms began on 29th December. Positively that means I’ve been able to cook some decent, fresh food this last few days while I’ve been at home. Haven’t been able to get out on the road bike, but did a 45min indoor bike session today and felt fine, so I’ve started the ball rolling…

And to the poster above with the cereal, yep, I started weighing my breakfast a good few years ago. It’s shocking how crap the return is on cereal and granola. Overnight oats with protein or stuff like scrambled eggs, beans, salmon etc are your friends.

Easy on the beans if they come in a tin. Full of carbs and sugar.
