Just got in from gym, did a really hard heavy circuit, had to get changed at the gym and put my kit in mybag and my 'damp' towel, one of those ones you wet first a mate bought it me, but I hadn't secured the container properly and so it had leaked onto my top and shorts, light grey shorts, right in the crotch, not so much as a light dab from the loo but like my bladder and exploded. aw well fk it, it's saturday night

am now enjoying pre-made tins of southern comfort and lemonade watching ricky 4...

Went for a swim today. First time for ages. Did a fairly relaxed kilometre if front crawl.

I’ll keep it up while I’m living so close to a gym with a pool.

Staying close to this gym will be a serious consideration when I start room hunting again.

Had the weekend off, did a very harsh 3 day cut too- amazing what you can shed if you try hard enough.....

Didn't expect much today, as I've had F all carbs over the last 3 days, and it's Monday morning..... Push>

Dips: 12x +80kg, 23 x +40kg
BHN Smith: 90kg RPF
Cable fly: 3 sets F
Tri Push down SS: 2 x F
Rear delts, DB's: 2 sets F
Face pulls: F

Not bad really. Noticeably leaner, but flat as a pancake. Lots of carbs and water on the menu today!

I read something interesting the other day about super harsh cutting being a sensible approach. It persuaded me, to be honest. The gist of the argument was that dieting is really boring and also prevents you gaining much muscle while it lasts (if any), so get it done quickly. You will lose some lean mass, but you will put it back on very quickly because of "muscle memory". It certainly sounds smarter than spending months on a modest deficit.

It's my preference if you just want to lean out a little. If it's a more comprehensive cut, then it needs to be longer and les harsh though.

My harsh 3 days was protein only, and not even a whole lot of it tbh- you feel like st, and it gets worse each day. But it works well- a week is about as much as you'd ever want to do. You're not going to loose much lean mass, but fat drops off.

I guess rib eyes have a fair bit of fat- I just used whey for 3 days. TBH it was a bit of a welcome break not having to eat all the time, plus it rid me of my heartburn that's been destroying my appetite recently- though I felt crap yesterday.......

Have you looked through the Lyle McDonald website? Right up your street if not - https://bodyrecomposition.com/articles/ - I've a few of his e-books if you'd like them. Mostly the extreme cutting ones.

There are plenty of stupid fad diets around. How about only eating cheese? Or purple broccoli? All very sensible ideas.

The idiot will then say "It worked!". Of course it bloody worked - it's probably about 1,000 calories per day. You know what else would work? Restricting calories to 1,500 or so while eating properly...like a grown up in control of his life. Sigh.

It is the same with exercise - lots of noise and effort and excitement about the latest fad, but almost nobody is prepared to just find out what actually works and stick to it. Tip: it is probably hard and probably boring, like all things that work well in the long term.

I'm not allowed to say a damn thing about it. He swears blind he eats normally. But he has this weird addiction to video games that he only plays late at night in his man den. I would put money on it the den is stocked with all sorts of tasty treats. HIs mother despairs, oh I don't know what to do. Well it's not her problem any longer but doesn't help. Family lunch. There will always be loads of crap for him to eat, pizza, sausage rolls. Heavy carbs. But i'm wrong for suggesting we cut that stuff out, for his sake. He doesn't drink alcohol either so it's not that

Pull Day>

BB rows: 9x 230kg
Reverse grip pull downs: RPF
Wide: RPF
Cable pull overs: 3 sets F
Cable curls: 3 sets F

Did some fiddling around with the rows- different lines, lighter weights and such like- nothing felt as effective as what I currently do, so i'll stick with that.
