With regard to 'awareness and confidence', I don't think one can tease apart the effects of the two: society has unarguably become much more open about sex in the last ten years, never mind the last 20 or 30.

Likewise wimmins get to an age whereby they know what they want, and aren't afraid to ask for it.

I also think the internet has had a vast impact. I'm amazed what people post under the cloak of anonymity on sites like PH. It opens the eyes that there are other ways to live.
