that is a massive myth that has been well debunked. Meal timing & frequency does not matter at all when dieting. ]
Smaller meals more frequent have an effect on blood sugar which mean sit levels out insulin and therfre less likely to binge and feel hungry, combine with a high protein and you can reduce calorie intake whilst not feelign so hungry at the 'loss' from before.GallardoOwner said:
OK my story and seeking a bit of advise if anybody is in the know,
Was 14 stone 5lbs ( at only 5ft 7 ) about 3 years back and after changing my diet and using a PT three sessions a week I managed to get down to 12 st 2 lbs, Was desperate to get under 12 stone but just couldn't get there
Unfortunately circumstances gave me the opportunity to be lazy and stopped it all, The weight came back on slowly and 3 weeks ago at 13 St 11 lbs I thought it was time to take control again.
So cutting out Bread, Crisps, Biscuits, Chocolate and sugar in drinks I have dropped 9lbs which is pretty good.
From today I have started going into my gym at 6 am, which is where the advise comes in, Generally I wake up a little hungry but a couple of coffees and that goes, Is it healthy to be training on an empty stomach in the morning ?
Dont really want to eat at that time but if eating is a must then what should it be ? realistically I am not going to start preparing a healthy banquet at that time of day.
Anybody tried Protein Coffee ? Wondering what thats like as coffee is about best I can manage at that time of day.
Finally when I say gym I mean just getting a little sweat on not hitting it really hardcore, This morning some body weight exercise, Very light weights, fast walk / Run a mile on treadmill and some bag work.
I am the same height and weighed more than you last May (over 15 stone)! 15 moths later I am now 73kg. I changed diet completely (no bread and no sugar for starters), and used My Fitness Pal to track calories (was on 1200 per day for four months before last Christmas). I had lost most of the fat by then, couldn't believe how quickly it came off, I anticipated a year at least. This was a mix of diet (and making every calorie count) and regular weight training. Was 14 stone 5lbs ( at only 5ft 7 ) about 3 years back and after changing my diet and using a PT three sessions a week I managed to get down to 12 st 2 lbs, Was desperate to get under 12 stone but just couldn't get there

For me, I have found that when I eat doesn't matter so much (I sometimes have a protein shake for breakfast, but not always..). You may be better hitting the weights and if you practised the main compounds two to three times per week, I am sure the weight will start flying off.
Similar here - 103kg today after 2 weeks of indulgence ( and some exercise - hill walking, surfing, etc) so only 2 kg up on pre hols weight, but need to get going again now. BF was down at 12.9%' and while weight hasn't changed much I think I can see the difference.
Annoying problem of an old rotator cuff injury re surfacing and preventing bench presses, press ups type movements with the one gammy arm, but any pulling exercises are still fine. Will go and see doc when I get a chance

I came back pretty much the same weight but its gone up a pound a day the last 4 days despite eating reasonably carefully, certainly no more than 2500 a day, generally nearer 2000, not enough to put weight on but its gone up !
Just need to keep at it, I suppose doing weights may add weight.
Wonder how much lean muscle its possible to add in a week though, not much I bet, few grammes.

Jesus, it's been a whole year since I have been on this thread. 2015 did not start well for me. I lost my mum and dads health declined. Once I finished work at 5 all I would do once my wee one was asleep would be go back and forth to the kitchen eating whatever was available just for the sake of it. Two weeks ago I finally managed to kick my backside into gear. I weighed in at 16st I have stopped eating anything (except water) after 4.30pm and managed to drop to 14st 13lbs in those two weeks. Weight loss slowed down now so the hard work has to start.

My fitnesspal is giving me a goal of 1900 calories per day to lose 1kg per week. It is very easy to eat less than that. Yesterday I had 776 remaining (400 exercise). For me, I have found that when I eat doesn't matter so much (I sometimes have a protein shake for breakfast, but not always..). You may be better hitting the weights and if you practised the main compounds two to three times per week, I am sure the weight will start flying off.
Well done to you.

Its so easy to fall back into bad habits, I am also in the same boat and not been on here for ages, I feel I just get heavier each time I try and lose weight I am going back to my diet and start back at the Gym daily after half term. I think I am back at over 155KG which is pretty crap. I need to get shifting it again.BrightYellowTVR | 10/01/2014 | 160.5KG | 100KG | 141KG | 22/09/2014 | 19.5KG |

I think I may have posted on here before, but that would have been a while ago.
As you can see, well over weight. My BMI is 35 (I know it's not the best way to go by). My aim is to get down to 110kg which will take me to just under 30 BMI.
I'm going it via watching what I'm eating (I can easily eat loads without thinking about it) and also a mixture of running and walking. Going to follow the couch to 5k and do that Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and possibly something on Saturday. I'm a delivery driver so spend a lot of my day lifting/walking, sadly it is my eating habits that hold me back.
I've got a fitness test at the start of December for another job. Only 5.4 on the bleep test, but I don't want to risk failing.
First run today, 2.43km in 25 minutes, nothing amazing, but a start .

Hi I would like to join the Phat Phighters! Sorry I can't edit the table, I'm using a phone to post (maybe someone with a PC would be so kind?).
Anyhow, I currently weigh 16 stone and 3 lbs. my target weight is 13 stone, that's what I weighed when I started my desk job 7 years ago!
I am physically inactive apart from dabbling in weights, unfortunately I overdid it a few years ago and now have a glass back. Any wrong moves and the beginnings of sciatica start coming back. My current cardio level is best described as abysmal, I feel like my legs have wasted away sitting at my desk.
I love food, too much in fact. To the point where if I imagine a day without lots of high-calorie food I can't think of anything else to make it enjoyable, which is a bit sad really. Maybe I need a hobby!

- Understanding what crap you eat & drink that makes you round.
- Given the glass back & jelly legs, go walking. Not romping up hill & dale, but easy to do stuff.
Simple stuff like My Fitness Pal and total honesty, followed by some not too difficult corrective action will help with the first. The second will also help!
For the second, walk a mile before work, a couple at lunchtime and a mile after, if you can do at least a couple of those. If you can still do weights, better still.
If the back gets better (and there's other things to think about on that front), you can then look at getting more active, since while increased muscle support will possibly never eradicate the issues, it will help. Then you can do more.
Do the above with commitment for 3 months & report back .
All from experience rather than detailed medical knowledge I have to admit.
Most of my calcium bits seem to be buggered to some degree and I was larger than you by nearly 50 lbs and am probably below your target weight now. Far from ideal, but rather better than I was .
Thanks for the advice, I am lucky enough to live in the Lake District where there are plenty of nice places to walk, just need to stop being lazy and get out there. I often say I don't have time but if I added up the hours I spend lying on the couch after work I probably wouldn't like the answer.

Thanks for the advice, I am lucky enough to live in the Lake District where there are plenty of nice places to walk, just need to stop being lazy and get out there. I often say I don't have time but if I added up the hours I spend lying on the couch after work I probably wouldn't like the answer.

Then there's also run, if you can do that. Or bike?

I started the beginning of the year at approx 102KG (16 stone @ 6ft) and have been losing weight, primarily by diet. I'm getting to be a lot more active now and am training 3-4 times a week which is helping - although I'm finding lean muscle mass is increasing which results in slower weight loss e.g. my target weight is 75KG, my current lean muscle mass is 73KG.
I'm one of those who likes to have a goal to work towards, it helps my diet and it helps keep my motivation for training. My primary goal for next year is to complete the Wimbleball half Iron Man triathlon (end of June) in a good time and in the top half for my age group. Losing some of the weight will help me achieve that! I'm hoping that this thread will help me keep honest and accountable to myself and to remember why I am doing this!
I hate this thread
So after getting down under the 80kg mark I;
- went on a long weekend to Budapest where every time I stopped walking, I had a pint in my hand
- went on a 2 week holiday to Mallorca with the girlfriend whose skin isnt so great in midday sun [lots of boozy afternoons]
- moved house when the developers hadnt finished the kitchen so hammered takeaways for a few weeks
- generally increased junk food intake with decrease in all forms of activity
Back up to just under 90 then...

Jumped on the scales last week at 125.5kg. I've stopped eating st, which wasn't too bad. Helped I got confused when pay day was and had £20 to last me ten days!
Jumped on again today and down to 123.5kg.
It's actually quite additive, and I'm looking forward to weigh day (officially Mondays but also do Thursday.
I need to do some sort of exercise, but I really can't be arsed to after work most days lol.
