It's just standard pork belly from Sainsburys deli counter or the pre-packed ones on the shelves with the black trays (made in-store from the deli counter). The skin isn't that thick on these though. Their cheaper pre-packed ones at the council end of the cabinet have a thicker skin but the quality of the pork attached to it is noticeably poorer and chewier which I don't like. I haven't found a decent indy butcher round here as all their pork belly has been poor like the supermarket's cheap cuts but with a premium price. I find Saisnburys deli meat to be consistent in quality about 90-95% of the time and surprisingly good for supermarket meat. smile

My very first attempt at an air fryer omelette ! hehe

What do you reckon chaps? As basic as omelettes come as I was short of more interesting ingredients so what you see there is the result of 4 beaten eggs and about quarter of a block of Cathedral City cheddar. Egg poured into the pan that the air fryer comes with and then just dumped the cheese on top. Put the pan in the basket, switched it on, set 10 mins at 170C and that was the result! The prod holes were from me testing to see if it was cooked or not, and it was! Tasted far better than I can manage in a frying pan on the hob or done in the micro.

I'm calling it a success even if it does look more like a cake! jester

Fair enough - I thought pork belly would be fatter than that looks. Sainsburys deli counter is quite a long journey for me wink

Had belly pork last night but it was a lot fatter than the previous one we had, norra lorra meat after we cut 1/2 of the fat off.

End of my 2 weeks on Dietdoctor. Lost 2 kg all together, but had a long hot walk yesterday and drank a lot so might be a bit water retention weight. Exactly 100kg now and my next goal is 90kg!

Interesting article mentioning some of the metabolic issues related to a low carb diet, and the poor health policy/advice in the UK. A good one for the CICO brigade. It’s DM so not scientific.

And maybe being the DM it might be starting to be accepted by the mainstream.

All known to us keto-ers already Phil spin, but the broscience crowd will continue to be in denial and keep posting the articles about Atkins' death and other nonsense about heart disease yada yada. I expect one member here with a username starting with the letter 'd' will be along any moment now to tell us that the article is wrong and just do CICO, dawg. hehe

Its been very enlightening on how sugars are in so many foods and in what quantities.

More air fried omelette memes! hehe

4 whisked eggs, 1/4 big block of cheese sliced and broken into chunks, 1 tin of tuna in olive oil with most of the oil drained. Pan greased round with some of the excess oil, egg poured in, cheese dumped in, tuna dumped in and levelled out a bit. Dumped in air fryer, 165C for 16 mins. Done! It was absolutely feckin superb! Cheese nicely crisps a bit round the edges and tuna browns a little on top but the rest is so light and fluffy in texture. lick Ground black pepper and ground rock salt to taste.

Interesting. Being the food simpleton that I am I had never heard of a frittata 'til you mentioned it. I've just read up on it on wikipedia and yes, it does have similarities it would seem. Whatever you want to call it, it tasted fantastic. yes

For those wanting a bit of diet variety occasionally I’ve come across this site which offers low carb bread, pizza base etc. alternatives. They’re vegan too which is useful for me.

End of week three and I've now lost.............nada! Gutted. I must admit tho I was a naughty boy over the weekend. I was so thirsty after a walk I drank 2 pints of weak orange squash, and over sat/sun nights 2 bottles of wine and several G & T's. I WILL make a better effort this week.
