Which headphones for running?

If you need headphones for running you probably need to find a different hobby that you actually enjoy.
Silly comment. Of course he enjoys it ya numpty! It's entirely up to the individual whether they want to listen to 'stuff' whilst exercising. I'm exactly the same in the gym. I absolutely need an HRM, music, and buds (especially for cardio/interval work), all to help me focus that bit more and to aid motivation, and enhance the effectiveness of my workouts / cardio.
Of course I could do without, and still have an effective workout, but the above all contribute. What works for me may well not work for others etc . . .
Not rocket science . . .

Music is like caffeine, swearing or sugar, it can aid performance.
I have my PR playlist sorted for tomorrow to destroy my opponent.

How do you focus on what you are doing with music in your ears? I'm exactly the same in the gym. I absolutely need an HRM, music, and buds (especially for cardio/interval work), all to help me focus that bit more and to aid motivation

Easily thank you, although two caveats. About the only time I might take out the buds will be on the heaviest set of a particular exercise, especially DB's above the head! As well as maybe the final interval in HIIT session as I'd rather concentrate on breathing for the 20 or 30 seconds. Radio/MP3's keep me amused, positive, and entertained. I don't particularly want to enter in to banal conversations with my fellow gymsters, except the fittest girls, obviously! Also I don't listen to anything when running outside as I need to concentrate where I plant one of my feet (floppy ankle!).
I really struggle with headphones/earphones of any kind as I just can't find ones that either stay in my ear, don't make my ears all hot and sweaty or are just comfortable.
The in the ear ones alway fall out and I don't like the feeling of something in my ear canal, bud ones fall out, the sports ones that wrap around the back of your head pick up vibrations which really iritate me and the headphone type with the big mufflers make my ears sweat.
Anyway after much trialling these, or at least a version of these as I've had mine a couple of years now, are great as the buds are rubber so they don't slip out and the sound is perfectly adequate for my untrained ear:

Well my Parkrun playlist helped me storm to a victory over my mate today. I set my last 'sprint out' song as the entrance music of the Ultimate Warrior. Also I don't listen to anything when running outside as I need to concentrate where I plant one of my feet (floppy ankle!).
I have tried these:
Sennheiser Sports
But I found they really did not fit that well, gave okay sound for the price but were useless when running. I recently bought a set of these: Audio Technica ATH-CKX9IS
The difference is night and day, the odd loops that hold it in your ear fit really well and I don't notice them at all. The sound is good, I haven't really experimented with the fittings yet but should be able to get a better fit with the other tips. I got them a few weeks ago for £50, so its probably worth waiting for them to drop again.
