Someone will now pop up and tell me that what I am doing is all wrong. All I can say is that it is working for me at the moment and it's not TOO difficult a lifestyle to live with.
I think you've nailed it - it's enough of a change to make a difference but not so much that it'd be impossible to maintain.Actually, it's funny someone brought up the argument I was having with Goldblum. I was objecting to running and recently I've got a contract running fitness sessions which involves... sprinting amongst other things. I declare Goldblum a witch who should be drowned at the stake.

That seems to work for me. I do it by getting my nutrition mainly from meat, non-starchy veg, eggs, nuts, peanut butter, red wine and gin.
I train with weights 5 times a week and at the end of each session I do 45 minutes LISS (Low Intensity Steady State cardio) training. I train fasted and generally only eat between 13:00 and 20:00 hrs.
Five years ago I was 5ft 10in and 16 stone, now I am 13 stone and by summer I will be 12.5 and in pretty good shape. I doubt I will have a six pack because there isn't time...
On the subject of which, TIME is the factor that I, like lost people, seem to struggle with. Bringing about significant and lasting change generally takes longer than I would like.

Can I ask why you only eat between 1 and 8?I train with weights 5 times a week and at the end of each session I do 45 minutes LISS (Low Intensity Steady State cardio) training. I train fasted and generally only eat between 13:00 and 20:00 hrs.

I plan to be taking on a diet and idea similar to yours in 2 weeks and would like to know the idea behind that .
Thanks

My eating regime is based on my theory that because my body is currently using fat as energy, doing lots of stuff whilst my body is fasted and using body fat as energy will probably be effective in reducing body fat.
Also, by the time I have done my daily chores, been to the gym and got home it's normally approaching 1pm.I don't like to go to bed stuffed and so eat early enough to ensure that I am not.
The gin and red wine are very important for complex scientific reasons that are too complicated for anyone here to comprehend. Also I quite enjoy them and they prevent me from going mad, so a couple of times a week I enjoy them.
I would also mention that about once per month I have a weekend off and eat shed loads of simple carbs to keep my body on its toes.

I've been threatened with being burnt at the stake before, but drowned as well? That's mean.Edited by goldblum on Wednesday 19th March 23:24
I think the best bet is to follow the real experts on cutting, losing fat and keeping muscle, strength, performance as high as possible... people like bodybuilders (admitting the effects of PEDS) and boxers, UFC (type) fighters making weight.
And they all just cut the calories way back and just sit around doing nothing during the cutting periods. Naturally.

I 'carb loaded' for a few days before an event last week, the toilet side affects were not expected. Weight also went up loads.

That's another reason I try to stick to meat and veg. When I do go back to starchy carbs, for example over Christmas or on holiday I pile on the pounds, experience abdominal discomfort and need to visit the toilet a lot.Weight also went up loads.

Why is bread seen as so bad??? Yes high in carbs but surely not empty calories -
Decent whole grain bread is heslthy. Surely it makes a good breakfast / lunch
My old personal trainer went nuts when I said I ate bread. The supermarket stuff is full of sugar apparently.Decent whole grain bread is heslthy. Surely it makes a good breakfast / lunch

I am but never knew as symptoms were so on-off that I put it down to food poisoning or bugs until after two bad episodes in just 3 months I had it looked in to and confirmed by doctor/blood tests.
On this subject, I'm trying to convince the family to eat a low carb, high fat diet as to me it's the best way of keeping the pounds off whilst adding muscle. so I have banned cereals, which the kids hated until I started making them omelettes cooked in butter with whipped cream and cheese for breakfast
They also have poached eggs with ham and a bit of cheese as well, as well as greek yogurt with flaxseeds and blueberries and so far it's working. My problem now is what to do for their lunch boxes to take to school, but one step at a time first.

No far from it, but they eat far too much sugar. Cereal in the mornings followed by sandwiches, yogurt, fruit and a chocolate bar for lunch at school, another small chocolate bar when they get back. Then if I don't cook dinner and the wife does it could be beans on toast for convenience. My wife is the major problem as she's knows next to nothing about nutrition and doesn't take kindly to me keep 'banging' on about it. She fights me all the way, saying I'm a miserable sod and should let them eat what they like.
My wife is not really overweight either, she could probably do with losing a stone, but on the other hand she runs 5k twice a week. But she does suffer with fibromyalgia and therefor takes cocktails of strong painkillers everyday. She's tired a lot and is in constant pain, but will not change her diet which is awful apart from when I cook for her. A lot of people on a LCHF diet have had success with relieving of eliminating fibromyalgia symptoms , but do you think she will give it a go? No bloody chance. And the reason why? the doctors have said it can't be cured and they know better .
You didn't really want to know this did you?! This is how frustrated it makes me, that I ramble on about it without realising
