That's why I mentioned it. I was trying to get across that they must be short as they rung me a week early before I could go to get me booked in. Just not very articulately.
Probably down to me then. I've been given 13 units of the finest O+ over the past 3-4 months so very grateful to all you donors out there.I did give blood back in the '80's. I think I got to my 4th or 5th donation and whilst they drained an armful during idle chat I mentioned that i had been spending time in West Africa. The donation was stopped immediately and I was told in no uncertain terms that my blood was not welcome in the future so I never went back.
May be once I get through the crap I'm going through atm I might just return the compliment. Keep it up folks.

I'm up to three donations now if that counts ![wavey](/inc/images/wavey.gif)
I don't think I will ever get to 100 though, that is some going, fair play.
Snap! Giving blood always seems to mess up my running for a couple of weeks after so I don't like donating just before a race and that always seems to be when they're at the only venue I can realistically get to in the daytime.![wavey](/inc/images/wavey.gif)

Last time I went my iron was too high on the little test they do so they brought out the expensive test, I was OK on that one luckily!
I made my 8th donation just a few weeks ago and already have my next appointment booked. I like the feeling that I'm, hopefully, helping somebody out. My dad needed loads of blood and platelets when going through his fight with Leukaemia which was part of the motivation to get me to start donating myself.
That and Tuc biscuits![yum](/inc/images/yum.gif)

I didn't get started until I was in my mid-30s, but realised it would be a good thing to do and went along with some work colleagues. After I gave my donation 1st one I discovered was A- and that made me feel I should definitely be doing it!
But then I had a TIA in 2006 so low-dose asprin meant I wasn't able to donate any more - sadly I only got to 18 but would otherwise have carried on.

I'm AB- and CMV-
Most people as they progress into adult life become CMV+ due to colds, infections, virus etc but I've stayed CMV- which apperently means my bloody is good for premature babies. A senior blood nurse told me the latter part, not sure how true it is but my last donation went to the maternity unit at Airdale General Hospital.

Blimey that said I was quick a couple of weeks ago when I took 6m 24S
I donated this afternoon, number 23. I'm pretty sure I took about 4 or 5 minutes to donate my 'pint'.I'll ask for the time next time though!

I got into the 20s, but long periods living in the US have stopped me: the Americans believe that all Brits have Mad Cow Disease, and Britain thinks I'm now American enough to automatically have West Nile Disease. Maybe I can find out if the French would like any blood if I go to Le Mans 2021.
