Normal hearing,
Though i tried to be honest with it i worked out the pattern and how often the person was clicking fo rthe next pitch to come on so dunno if it was a fair representation.
I think the more advanced ones are a bit more random and in a good sound proof box.

The reason I mentioned it was that often the ringing noise is the blank that the brain fills in with when there is a loss in a part of the hearing range. (Mine is. It was caused by handguns without ear protection and Raves - not at the same time)

Mine id caused by stress, right ear only, from morning to night, I have learned to live with it and it only bothers me when it's really loud

Thanks for all the replies.

Proper NHS audiology department one is a sealed floating room, feels odd and it's the quietest place ive ever been in. Ive been using CBT oral spray from Tier one, extra strong, its actually lowering the volume for me

I find my tinnitus is worst in the evenings when there's less noise in the house, and I cannot get to sleep if I lie in bed on my side as it appears to amplify the tinnitus buzz.

Agree with ^. So quiet that during my hearing test for tinnitus I wasn't sure on occasions if I was hearing a noise played by the audiologist, my own breathing or just a tinnitus noise.

Same. Since covid tinnitus noticeably worse and sense of smell worse
but slowly returning. Tinnitus is slowly getting better now after three or four months. BP normal fortunately.

I got tinnitus when I got covid. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever had. Sat watching tv and it just suddenly started from nowhere. Lasted for 2 days then just as soon as suddenly as it started it just stopped. It was like someone switched it on then off.

Dont want that again, it was awful, genuinely wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

It hasn't frown

It feels a bit like my ears have popped, but they haven't, like a build up of pressue, or is it a vacuum, I don't know?

Maybe part of a bug?

Do a covid test? Seems that impacted a lot of people

Given up on testing, as I've had a lot of bugs over the last 3 years, not one of them Covid!

As I posted previously in this thread - I have found that artificial sweeteners aggravate my tinnitus (and also cause headaches).

OP - you should have a read of this 5 Types of Sugar Substitutes: What to Avoid if You have Tinnitus if you drink a lot of drinks with artificial sweeteners (Pepsi Max / Coke Zero etc..)

It's becoming increasingly difficult to even find cordials that don't contain artificial sweeteners.

Guys I don’t want to insist too much for fear of coming over a bit arrogant but seriously you just have to accept it and ignore it.

By far the most troublesome part of having it is the emotional reaction of “why me, this is awful”. Having this reaction sets up your brain to pay even more attention to it and around it goes.

I’ve had it bad for nearly 20 years now but I just “own it” as our American cousins like to say by saying “this is my tinnitus, it’s part of me and my life”. By doing that you relax and immediately pay less attention to it.

If I stop and listen at any moment I have about 4000hz blasting in my left ear and about 7600hz in the other and probably others as well mixed in. A total cacophony and pretty shocking as I’ve just reminded myself!

But it really fades into the background if just concentrate on something else.

Mine has improved over the last few days, right ear had been bad for ages, left less so, now the right seems fine and the left a bit better.

I have been using the steroid nasal spray the doc gave me, now I probably shouldnt but instead of up my nose, I tried a drop in my right ear the other day and it seems to have worked, hearing is back to normal in it and no buzzing.

I figured that the problem is in my ear and sticking the stuff up my nose is like hosing a fire in your house by pointing the hose two doors down. I dont want to do it again as its against the directions but as a test, it seems to have helped, but may be coincidental, appreciate the ear is complex and delicate and dont want to mess it up by putting stuff where it doesnt belong, but thought that as a one off it was worth a try.

Got an appointment with a consultant next week so can hopefully get some answers, its heartening that my hearing has come back normal for a bit so its all still intact.

Consultant removed some hard wax from one eat, but though he tried the right one it he could see some but couldn't remove it with his mini vac and tools.

Anyway, he said try Sodium Bicarb drops and come back in two weeks for another go, anyway, I did it for a couple of day but then tried some warm water in a syringe and out it popped, rather disgusting but oh so satisfying, size of one half of a peanut.

Hearing is back to normal, guess will see how the tinnitus is after a few days when it settles down.
