My nails from both my big toes fell off after playing football in boots slightly too small for me. They came off in the bath and didn't really hurt. They grew back without problem. Your girl will be fine smile

fk it, it was pissing me off so bad i have just numbed my toe by running the cold tap over my foot(not very cold mind) and the cut the nail out. Pain isn't so bad now so we'll wait and see. I don't like the idea of the Dr method tbh. Is the nail bed the skin like substance under the nail? I've dug that st out as well!

I ran over my hand when I was a lot younger, sitting down on a skateboard and not paying enough attention.

2 of my right fingers went under the wheels and the nails went black and eventually fell off.

The strange thing was I couldnt feel anything for a while in them, but could lift the nail up like a flap and see the new nail growing underneath it.
biglaugh

i was towing my cousin on his skateboard (me on my bike). he was kneeling on the board with hands gripping both sides - they slipped off and both hands under the wheels. ALL his fingernails turned black and fell off rofl

how we laughed biggrin

they did grow back.

we never did that again smile

Thats part of the nail bed. the rest in under your skin with the rest of the nail.

You should of cut the area around the ingrown bit then got it sorted properly. it'll only grown back.

well when they ripped it out, the hiddne bit of the nail came out. about 1cm of it. then he cut the external skin (deep) to remove nail bed which you cant see. Removing the nail bed will stop it growning back.

When the second doctor put the silver stuff on it, he was wedging it down the gap where the nail used to be...

This has happened a lot then!

Same thing happened to me as you L4URA. A horse trod on my big toe and half ripped it out. Went for the ride anyway a bit squelchy in my boot, and pulled the rest of the nail off when I got back.

Took about 9 momths to fully grow back.

Ewww, some of these stories are horrid.

I lost all nails on my fingers but not my toes when I had an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin. For some reason the reaction made the top layer off ALL my skin peel off, was pretty grose I have to confess. And made the nail which was in the nail bed at the time, stop growing. Consequently they all came off around 4 months later even though I had the silk wraps put on them by one of those nail shop people to try to bind them to the new nail that was trying to grow.

Overall not nice and another reaction could kill me this time as that one put me in hospital for 5 days. Happy thought there people smile

just lost all 10 on my feet, some fell off in a week, some went black and grew through, one of the big ones grew half and i had to do some sniping and tugging to get it off

most of them have grown back with strange ridges in them and what not.

6 months later ive got 9 nails and one weird looking thing one a big toe

hurt like hell............

ive lost odd ones before, inc three on one hand once which smarted a bit.

Oh Jesus!! Now i REALLY do not want to get this sorted. "Wedging" and "where nail USED to be" kinda smarts a little.

I was starting my dads petrol leaf blower a while back. It had a pull cord start and with it being plastic bodied, it had a little metal ring to stop the cord rubbing through.

You know how you start a petrol engine with a cord, how you sometimes have to pull it a few times in quick succession? well, I was doing this and in one of the motions my nail got caught under the metal ring. I then pulled again on the cord, hard, and ripped my nail clean off.

I swore, and bled, a lot!! but the nail grew back
