Had my 6 monthly review today. Now on waiting list for Omnipod, although evidently I am at the back of the queue due to my decent hba1c. Should be 6 to 8 months wait....
Quite excited about it, after 43 years of injecting insulin.
Got a s
tty cough at the moment which seems to be playing havoc with my blood sugars. I am almost double dosing my insulin and still they just launch upwards.... I have been told Omnipod would help sort this at times of sickness.....
If you have to wait that long, I dare say you’re waiting for HCL? Regular Omnipod is more than readily available now. Quite excited about it, after 43 years of injecting insulin.

Omnipod has helped me in every area, including sickness, as you can just increase your back ground for an hour or so.

I also have basal programmes for stress, winter and summer (I'm more physically active during the summer)
I've also heard of people using site specific profiles too.

Omnipod is the pump controlled by background basal and manual input of carbs for Bolus etc.Edit. Hybrid closed loop. Ah, so what are the differences??

HCL is the omnipod 5 which is linked to a dexcom and auto regulates for you, increases basal if your BM rises and reduces if it lowers. Very clever new tech, almost mimicking an artificial pancreas.

Ah Omnipod 5 sounds like what I am waiting for. Although I think the new libre plus (?) will interface with the Omnipod now....due to be announced soon according to my specialist....HCL is the omnipod 5 which is linked to a dexcom and auto regulates for you, increases basal if your BM rises and reduces if it lowers. However, I have been told I need to start learning to carb count again -so I presume the Omnipod 5 still needs carb knowledge from me rather than being completely autonomous?
Thanks for answering daft questions....

Yeah it still needs some basic carb inputs, but that’s really simple once you’re used to it.However, I have been told I need to start learning to carb count again -so I presume the Omnipod 5 still needs carb knowledge from me rather than being completely autonomous?

Libre plus hasn’t had the full NHS sign off yet, as that’s what I wanted and why I have to move to dexcom, but hopefully by the time you get it Libre will be fully compatible.
That’s why we’re here, to answer the questions and help each other.

Currently I'm on omnipod 5, but only qualify for freestyle 2 (not dexcom) so can't use its full potential.

That's inyrtesting re freestyle libre 2 plus, how does it vary from freestyle 3, is it going to be more cost effective therefore available to more T1?

Sorry I thought I’d replied to this!Currently I'm on omnipod 5, but only qualify for freestyle 2 (not dexcom) so can't use its full potential.
Not sure how the libre differ from one another, but the 2+ is compatible with the Omnipod 5 for HCL.
I’ve been on closed loop now for 2 weeks and noticed a slight difference, it’s pretty good at what it does and is eradicating a few silly highs I tend to get.
My time in range has gone from 64% up to 76% and I think itll keep climbing.
I was moved from Libre to Dexcom purely for the HCL but think I may prefer the dexcom as it’s more stable than libre!
