Keto diet - anyone else?
Discussion
Are you forcing yourself to eat something because you're used to eating 3 times per day or is it because you're actually hungry? Most people on a keto diet don't do breakfast as they're not hungry. Maybe just a snack for lunch if feeling a bit peckish and then a meal at dinner/teatime. Eating 3x per day won't see you losing much (if any) weight, if that's your goal here.
Load up on your protein at your evening meal and if you're doing it right you won't be hungry again until the evening the following day.

Errr not sure I agree with that at all. A blanket ‘3 meals is too many’ statement doesn’t take into account activity levels or calories in meals. I definitely ‘need’ breakfast and I definitely have less hunger than pre keto but yup, also ‘need’ 3 meals a day.
I’m in it to lose a few pounds (3kg down so far and only want to lose 2 more) but also interested in the physiology behind it and how I feel. So far so good.

If you stick with it, whether for the feeling or the weight loss or maybe curiosity and bloodwork, you will find it easy to skip breakfast and even lunch.I’m in it to lose a few pounds (3kg down so far and only want to lose 2 more) but also interested in the physiology behind it and how I feel. One meal a day FTW.

This ^. Load up on the protein and fats and the unplanned fasting comes naturally as you're just not hungry = weight falls off without even having to do anything else. One meal a day FTW.
Update. So 3.5 weeks in for me and I like it a lot. I’m 5kg down and now at my ideal weight I think. I’m going to stay keto for another 3-4 weeks to see what happens weight wise out of curiosity.
Pros - no hunger pangs, consistent energy and clear head. Good, natural satisfying food. Much more awareness of what I’m eating and how much sugar there is in some things.
Cons - no ales, food prep is a little more time consuming for work, I do miss some carbs.
Ketones seem to fluctuate between 1.3-2.8.
All good and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned on the thread already but, for those of us who like a beer or ten, these two beers are decent and passable enough. The Skinny beer is 3.0g of carbs per bottle and the Tennent’s is - unbelievably - 0.7g! What I’ve been doing is squeezing some pink grapefruit into them and they pick up more of an IPA like flavour - they’re really rather nice, if a little weak.

How is going now.
What are the results after these couple of months?
Hi MikeWhat are the results after these couple of months?
After I dropped 8kg, I went on holiday and came off keto. I left it till last week to go back on it again as I generally feel better eating keto.
My weight didn’t bounce back up strangely either, only a couple of kg.
I’m at 81kg now which is ideal for me. It’ll be interesting to see what this does staying keto
I’m now in the 9stone bracket which is nice. Although am getting the “don’t lose any more weight/you’re too skinny” type comments. I’m happy on Keto. Don’t miss anything in particular. But am obsessed with checking carb content on labels. Had lots of BBQs over Summer, wrapping burgers in Lettuce now having Roast Chicken, Omlette, Bare Noodles with Spag Bol, Chirzo Sausages and loving Roasted Cauli and Broccoli. Occasional mini bar of Aldi 85% Cocoa Moser Roth Chocolate (5 pack individually wrapped which helps!)
I like making the shredded chicken/mozzarella based pizza and tonight looked at canned chicken in white sauce in Aldi at just over £1 which claims to have a 0 carb content as does Carb Manager so may try one using this.
I’m looking to maintain now and will try and add a breakfast to my diet. Have made up some Keto Granola (bought the Paleo one at just under a fiver for not very much!) The first batch I’ve made I overcooked and slightly burnt. Anyone have a favourite recipe I can try? I have mixed seeds, Flax Seed and various mixed nuts.
Also have added Inulin to my diet for more fibre. Has anyone tried this?

Was it difficult to get used to it from the very beginning? How was your body? Did it accepted the diet at once? My dad is diagnosed with diabetes, he is prescribed medications, but when I had to buy trulicity online for him, I saw so many side effects it can cause. I'd like him to better stick to a health diet and I think ketogenic diet is the best option here. After I dropped 8kg, I went on holiday and came off keto. 17 stone 4lbs - start weight
Been following Keto now for 5 days. I nearly cracked yesterday and reached for a sandwich but pushed through and feel so much better today. I had gastro issues days 1 to 4 but been so much better today. Hoping to stick to this as right now it feels easy and the weight is falling off (yep I know it's mostly water / glycogen stores).
Glad I didn't crack yesterday.. hoping this gets easier and easier. I have bought some almond flour and ingredients for Fat Head Pizza which I am looking forward to making and eating as a treat on Friday night.
I am taking electrolytes daily and salt tabs when doing cardio to avoid cramps - and drinking 3 litres plus a day
Anything I am missing ?

No, you are not missing anything. The transition period is a combination of salt loss and sugar withdrawal. It doesn't last long.Been following Keto now for 5 days. Fat Head Pizza is a pretty good alternative if you feel you are missing out. That passes, in time, and I don't make it that often now.
Give it time.

My go to is a filthy Dominos so yes right now I feel like I am missing out but as you say that may pass. Now I've cracked the no boozing, time to crack the food issues (I put on 3 stone when I stopped drinking)

It sounds like you are on a similar journey to me. Since I stopped alcohol and then discovered and defeated my sugar craving I have found keto really effective and easy to stick to.My go to is a filthy Dominos so yes right now I feel like I am missing out but as you say that may pass. Best of luck!
I’ve finished five days of Egg Fast and dropped just under 2kg. I’m going to maintain from here as my target was reached in August and now I’m just over nine and half stone
Egg Fast wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be and definitely got me baking and cooking again. Loads of recipes using just three ingredients and I love eggs. Day five was the most difficult, just didn’t feel hungry.
Would recommend if anyone needs to reset or start Keto. Follow the rules and slowly introduce low carb foods over days six and seven. You’ll definitely be in Ketosis and a smoother transposition with results.
