The time is most relevant. How else can I beat myself if I don't worry about the time?!
The best type of competition - against myself. That way I always win
ETA: Just had a look at the Concept 2 site...it's not a very good time
The time is relevant when it needs to be and if you are just starting off its more important to do regular sessions and build up to a point where you can actually attack a time rather than just hang on and hope for the best. The best type of competition - against myself. That way I always win

But I guess everyones motivated differently and the fact you have started is the most important thing.

Barely touching the erg right now; focus is on the ski erg and running - I've been "told" that I'm doing the Abingdon marathon in October. Lovely. i got into the erg due to continual knee and ankle problems. But a challenge is a challenge.
Actually, the battle on the ski erg is fun - finding regular PBs due to being so darned new to the device.

Worst thing about that is that it is a lousy photo. No excuses there at all - to a certain extent outright pace doesn't matter.
It is a st photo, yep. That's what I seem to manage to take when I'm half dead after rowing 2k! Oh, and I had to crop the misses' arse out the original photo as she was doing some bendy st on the floor I'm going back today to try to better the time. I'll aim for a better photo for you

Haha I know it's poor! Just surprised that I hadn't got any worse!
There's that many pages on this thread without much on actually how fast people are doing 2k. What's the average on here? Approximately.

Think I mentioned earlier that a thread asking for 2k times makes for boring 'discussion' but FWIW to prevent bruised egos I've chosen not to add my sub 6" 2k @ 85kg bw to the above thread
Anyway, thought it's worth an end of Q1 update. 3 months down! 408191m on the clock. Time flies when you're erging...
Also to the chap who posted the screenshot, you're a better man than I as I'm just too chicken to see what I'm capable of - and I don't think I've seen one of those old school monitors in about 10 years! And even then they were out of date!

I think we are all going to need to start taking boxes of Birds custard to the gym, aren't we.https://www.instagram.com/p/BDen7qyMUYb/?taken-by=...

I'm back on the erg after nearly a year off.
Now have the room at home so have got one on hire.
Need to lose a good 5kg...
Downloaded a decent 6 week plan (4 sessions a week with a few 2k thrown in) and a week in I'm really enjoying it.
Thought I was doing good technique and then my daughter jumped on and showed me how it's done properly (she's rowed competitively for 3 years and does the 2k in about 8:30 - she's not 14 yet) the difference in getting the breathing correct and technique are quite the difference.
6 x 8' AT's tonight.
