Ignore the very dry skin which is totally unrelated to the transplant.

So this is my result- 15 months on. I’m dead chuffed- looks natural for a man of nearly 40:

Before:

Et voilà, 15 months on:

Where did you get yours done and would you be happy to share how much it cost?

The results from those who have posted pictures are good. For those that have had it done:

- How long did it take before you were to able to go out in public without it looking like you had work done i.e. no visible signs of blood and redness etc?
- How did you deal with work and colleagues etc? E.g. did you just take two weeks off work and then turn up again with a slightly different looking head of hair? What were the reactions/comments? Were you up front about it before you got the work done?

Those are the parts I haven't figured out how to deal with, if I were to get work done.

If I'm honest you won't get away with your work colleagues not noticing. Best being upfront about- there's nothing to be ashamed about!

As above- I was honest. Some were actually interested in the cost and the results and 2 have gone now gone ahead with a transplant!

It's worth it mate- go for it! Just find a good reputable clinic!

What makes you think they took it in the first place?

Hi, I am no longer on Fin because I ran out and it’s stupidly expensive here in Germany. Still using Minoxidil spray.

Costs: €5.5k, surgery in my home city of Frankfurt, 3600 or 3800 grafts I think.

Downsides: first week is bloody rough, second itchy, then plain sailing. It’ll look red and weird for a few weeks. Sod it.

People will notice; embrace it. Talk about it. If anyone asks I’m open about it, but I’m not going to get a t shirt printed with ‘I’VE HAD A HAIR TRANSPLANT’ on it.

Upsides: on a job in Brussels the costume designer decided my hair was so good, I didn’t have to wear the wig! Haha!

Ok thanks, what's to stop the remaining original hair disappearing leaving a front cover?

It depends on your personal condition, my hair loss is diffuse which means that it was patchy all over and I did not have loss in a single place. 6 years on my hair still looks great but most of the work was done away from the hairline.

That's why I avoided going to Turkey as getting the crown right is very challenging, a strong frontal hairline is much easier to get right.

Some very good transplant results on here, but I'm so used to my number 1 cut that I've had since 2019 that I wouldn't grow mine again if I had a full head of hair now. No more messing around, jump out of the shower, towel off, job jobbed. I wish I'd done it years ago instead of wasting time stressing over it thinning, and putting up with mates taking the mick.
Absolutely agree with that.

I have shaved mine to No 1 or 2, for 12 months now.

Been losing my hair incredibly slowly since the age of 18. By incredibly slowly, I mean by age 19 it was visible that I was receding slightly at the temples, and all my friends joked that I would be "totally bald by 21" yet oddly my receding carried on a stupidly slow pace, and by 38-ish I still had reasonable hair, still went to the barbers, and still had a hair style albeit one designed to be short and neat.

But when I turned 40 I got fed up of worrying about my hair looking increasingly daft, like I was trying to hang onto it, and I had begun to use hair products such as hair gel/wax not as styling products, but to hold it in place to cover my temples, and had even let it grow a bit longer to see if that made it look any better, but that then required hairspray to keep it looking neat...

I began to fear rainy days as it would leave my thinning hair looking very thin, and windy days would blow my 'new longer hairstyle' around and leave me looking like a balding bloke with a semi-combover.

This went on for 4 or 5 months last year, thankfully during social distancing and not seeing many people (rofl) and I couldn't take it anymore. I just felt stupid.

Shaved it off to a No 2 and instantly felt hugely relieved, like a worry had just completely gone. It was very odd, because all of a sudden I didn't care anymore. I was also taken by surprise about how easy things were. I had been combing and styling my hair every single morning for 25 years, since the age of 15, with wax or other products, and suddenly I had absolutely no need to do these things. One wipe with a towel after showering is the full extent of the effort required. I no longer care if it's raining or windy, or if I get soaked on the way to a meeting, nothing changes. I no longer experience the mess of 'hat hair' from caps, woolly hats or after removing a motorcycle helmet.

Even after 12 months I still get surprised by the ease of everything now. Occasionally I'll automatically think "Oh no! it's started raining and blowing a gale, my hair will be a right mess" then I just remember that I have a shaved head, and it doesn't matter.

The other thing you realise is that no one cares. Seriously, no one gives a toss. When people started seeing me after I shaved it off, 99% of then didn't even look at my hair or give any indication they noticed, and the 3 or so friends who did notice or say anything were just like "You look good with short hair" and that was it.

Previously I was conscious about looking like 'the balding bloke' and wondered what people thought, but now I couldn't care less and just feel like "Shaved head. So what?"

I feel hugely more confident about my hair, or lack of it, than I have done in a long time.

If anyone else is worried, all I can say is just try it. Shave it off and you will be amazed at how much you suddenly feel better. Any friends who have done the same thing agree with me. They didn't care anymore the minute they shaved it off and could finally just forget about it.

Everyone's different. I shaved mine off from the long floppy, straightened, hairspray look to attempt cover balding... and I had instant regret. A 21 year old looking 40 shouldn't be allowed. I was a good 10/10 aswel before hand so maybe hit harder. Always being the "catch" at school etc and taking advantage of that fact at uni until then haha. Dont know if I have enough hair now I'm 30s for a transplant, but I'm considering it. Currently rock the shaved to the bone tattoo look anyway and that instantly gave me my looks back imo. Maybe confidence? But I went back to pulling very good looking girls with ease again when I done it.

Might grow it all out over Christmas and see how much hair I have left haha.

You are absolutely right, and everyone is different. Some people may want to avoid the 'Bruce Willis' at all costs via treatments and transplants, and I totally get it. If that's what they want they should go for it.

I'm just saying that if treatments and transplants aren't an option, don't dismiss shaving your hair short until you try it.

I never had myself down as someone who would feel vaguely comfortable with a No 1 all over. I'm not some powerfully built bloke with tattoos. I'm a polite, well spoken, 5' 7" chap of reasonably slim build who wears a suit and tie at work and has never been in a fight in his life... But now I've got the shaved head, it's totally fine.

As for rating myself out of ten and all that sort of stuff, I have absolutely no interest in anything like that as being a married man, I have no requirement to attract women anymore biggrin I went on a single mans rampage between the age of 18 and 28, so I've not missed out!

I always try to dress well, I'm fussy about my teeth, cleanliness, aftershaves, my clothing, my shoes, and all that kind of thing, and I think if you are making a decent effort to dress well and all the rest of it, only very few women (or men) will be particularly bothered about the lack of hair, and even if they are, you wouldn't want them anyway.

I was about to say look at zayn malik , he's had his hair like a grade 1 for years now and pretty sure it hasn't done his dating any harm.

As you go from 30's to 40's to 50's looking trim and fit is far more important than having good hair .

That looks pretty good.

The hairline in particular looks natural. Quite often you see a straight line between he sides and it looks so unnatural.

Hairlines are not perfect, and the majority of people lose a bit of hair even if they don't go completely bald, so it's better to make it look age appropriate rather than drawn in.

I'm not bald, but am thining. If it gets to the point I wanted a hair transplant I'd aim to look like it did about 10 years ago, not 30 years ago!

Just as another side, I've been taking finasteride for the last 5+ years.

I've had no side effects from it at all, neither has my dad. My brother tried it though and it made him sad all the time so had to stop.

It totally stopped my hair loss, fortunately I started taking it just as my hair was receding.

I used to buy it from a site in India as it was about £50 for a years supply, but it got dodgier and dodgier (ended up being redirected to a jewellery store to complete purchase), so now I buy it from simpleonlinepharmacy online, it's a bit more money (less than a couple of hundred a year) but still not that bad. Defo worth it, I've got long hair and was terrified about going bald.

Edit: I just worked it out, probably more like 8 years

People who have hair and shave it down look like People who have hair. If you have hair missing then you need to get lucky with a face that suits it, like Jason Statham, and not unlucky like Sajid David.
