If the virus is killed at 27 degrees could you not just go sit in a sauna or even crank the heat to to max in your car?
What do you think a fever is trying to do?

Genuinely not sure if you are joking...

Just in case, you are aware that the human body operates at an average internal temperature of around 37 degrees?

If your suggestion of "cranking the heat up" was serious, I hope you realise what a ridiculous thing it was that you said.

Not BA but at the same airport as the baggage handlers picked up by the press. We’ve all been working with additional precautions but I have a feeling it will spread so quickly around the airports, it’s impossible to protect the ground staff from exposure to passengers, aircraft cabins and baggage.
At Manchester someone has put a sign up in the bogs with detailed instructions of how to use hand sanitiser. No hand sanitiser has been provided.

I am not sure that this can be classed as additional precautions.

It would kill virus on skin, but would kill you before the virus.

My wife and daughter have gone to stay at her mums for a couple of weeks.
I take it they have been tested and given the all clear?
And this is the thing, they should have self isolated according to advice. I have just gone back to work myself.
They may have now spread it to others, and so on.

We are not going to stop this spreading.

The flu kills 300,000 to 600,000 every year. Why is this particular virus hitting the headlines so hard
Because once it infects more people than the common flu it will kill alot more than 300-600k. I for one am completely and utterly keeping away from all DIY duties to play some apex and keep myself clear of all flu.

On another note is a friends back from Italy, not sick at all. Work phoned them and said stay off another 2 weeks full paid for safety. Many of us are now considering booking a day flight to Italy and back at the weekend.... lol

I have been concentrating on keeping my hands away from my face while out and about.

Unfortunately I find it impossible to keep my fingers out of my nose when driving.

I’ve had a pretty rough cold for a few days. Well, man flu actually. Not the real flu, man flu, which is worse...!

I had to speak to the docs about something else yesterday so mentioned I was feeling rough, that I’m sure it wasn’t anything more than a cold but asked how do I tell and what’s the best thing to do? I got a very simple one line answer - “have you been abroad”. I replied no, to which I was told “well you can’t have it then”!

I don’t want it, of course, but i was amazed at the short shrift I got over even mentioning the C word!

It takes 24 hours for the results to come back (I've been tested), not sure how you stayed at the hospital for "most of the afternoon"?

No no no, man flu is a term used to describe how men fail to cope with flu like symptoms.

To say you have man flu is the same as saying: "I have some very mild symptoms, but am too weak and pathetic to cope and complain to everyone around me about how terrible my plight is."

I sure that isn't what you meant.

I read about a rear-ended car driver being found slumped over the wheel unconscious and bleeding heavily. As it was a low speed shunt this was unexpected. The victim had been stationary and was, in the time honoured tradition, picking his nose when the impact occurred. This caused him to shove his finger right up his snozzle and bring on a torrential nosebleed. When he saw the blood pouring from his nose he fainted...

Good Luck OP

It's a serious point, but I think peoples' behaviour is changing. For instance, in the pub last night the OH observed someone sitting behind me casually extract a large bogey from his nasal passage with his index finger.

Ordinarily, chances are he would have wiped it on the side of the bar stool or the underside of the table. He appeared however to make a conscious decision to eat it, thus mitigating against the spread of the corona virus.

Small steps.
