Smokers taking the p*ss at work.
Discussion
I think the OP may have a deeper routed anger problem.
Did you buy your car and realise that you ticked the box for a 335i and not d? Do you have nightmares about coming so close to owning motoring perfection?
Back OT and I don't have a lunch break normally. I'd rather come in dead on 9 and leave dead on 5 with 2 10 min fag breaks in the middle.
Boss seems well happy with it this way.

I'm not a smoker.
But I wholeheartedly support the notion of fag breaks.
The '...but what about all the smokers and their breaks?...' defence is notionally lined up as a contingency in my overall PH browsing related disciplinary case.
It’s funny reading some of these comments. I worked for almost two years in Italy and virtually everyone smokes (They can smoke inside, as the ban is at the discretion of the company owners, providing they have the required air con/filters)But I wholeheartedly support the notion of fag breaks.

We will not employ smokers. As well as time wasting, they are usually smelly and are unfit. They also have more colds and coughs which they then spread around.
Whilst you may have a point, surely that is discriminationEdited by cjs on Thursday 2nd April 13:03

BTW I don't smoke but on the unfit front - may be true generally - but I know 2 people who have competed at international level in theor sports and are smokers.

On the flip side of the coin to your comment, I can't remember ever seeing an Italian without a cigarette!
(I quit smoking long before moving, and just have the occasional cigar/cigarette when it's sunny outside, at home - smelling the occasional whiff of smoke at work never once bothered me, but that may be down to the excellent air conditioning/filtering)

We recently installed biometric readers on the smoking rooms of a well known company last month. It logs the time the door is opened and pay-roll deduct 10 minutes for every entry directly from their wages.
Isn't there one to monitor obese people who eat every half an hour at their desk?A nom nom reader!

Oooh, much as I don't like smokers swanning off for fag breaks constantly, that is a wee bit OTT. If they've only recently installed it, I wonder how they enforce it. I'll bet that isn't in the employment contracts.SS HSV said:

They can expect a large fine, then. Smoking rooms are illegal (in the UK). I've just had the same conversation with my boss a few hours ago.
There are a minority at our place who take the mick somewhat, so we've been watching them. We have counted one bloke at 36 minutes so far TODAY. That's more time that our lunch break...
I have a feeling that sweeping reforms are on their way at my place, and some noses are going to get put out of joint.
Even as an ex smoker I am aware that I used to have time off that my non smoking colleague didn't, but I usually knocked it off my lunch or worked on a bit, but it was about 10 minutes a day max anyway, usually sneaking a quick smoke when walking between buildings. I never used to stay out there chatting, especially after I had finished my smoke like some seem to do.
