Never drink to get hammered, bit of a buzz at the most. I guess i just like it, It's cheaper than sex and tastes better too
You need better sex. Or worse drink.

Either way you're a winner.

One year at xmas we all went round and 'Ron' was drinking gin from a lager can so his wife didn't see what he was knocking back. She knew though when he fell over after two cans of lager.
hehe

I'd be an alcoholic were it not for the fact that I can't stand up after more than about 8 pints.
Timmy, let's not dress your drinking prowess up in some sort of manly shroud.

You look like Professor Stephen Hawkins at a break-dancing competition after 3 pints.

Never been a big drinker but used to love a gram of coke or 7. Reason I stopped is because I knew deep down that I had to stop. By stopping I stopped doing something I loved plus lost about 60% of my "friends" after 3 weekends. I've been straight since December 2008 and feel good. Have bumped into some of those "friends" since who still think it's fine to do what we did and are convinced it's nothing to be bothered about. Fair doos but what I will say is if something inside you is telling you to stop then listen to your body and make the change. I'm much happier now despite living a much quieter life. 3 months and youl be right

Sounds like you did the right thing.

If friends are only with you for that, then they are better lost.

Keep doing good smile

I quit smoking in '99 and since then my alcohol consumption ramped-up. Yes I think I replaced one addiction with another and maybe if I am struggling its because I am heading down the road to alcoholism.
Stop. Stop completely. One is too many, twenty is not enough. Just don't drink any more, not even one.

If you THINK you have a problem with drink, you DO have a problem with drink.

I gave up fifteen years ago, just stopped completely one day, and I've never had a drop since.

Well, I tell a lie, last month I had two glasses of wine when out with a bunch of friends in a uber posh wine/cigar bar, but I drank them so slowly I never even felt the effects.

I am....addicted. Not an Alcoholic but definitely addicted.
what exactly do you think an Alcoholic is? It has nothing to do with the volume you drink but your dependancey on it.

Do you yourself a favour, and knock it on the head now before it gets much worse. Start looking at other ways to help you get to sleep, sex or pills take your pick biggrin
What the hell? Get rid of alcohol by popping sleeping pills instead? Yeah. They ain't addictive at all.

Don't go down this path. If you want to kick the booze, don't replace it with other drugs - you yourself have said you started drinking more when you stopped smoking. Surely if you do that with sleeping pills it ain't going to be pretty.

Two small cans of macklesons last night. I actually poured a third but it sat there untouched.

I am really worried that I'm going off my booze frown
No, no, it's just the voice of King Herald prickling away in your subconscious.

i did drink 3 pints of carling every night for 10 years, only last month i thought this is getting too much and constant drinking will do me no good.
so i just stopped completley, not had a drop in a month and feel better for it.
if i fancy a drink now i have a gin and tonic, one capfull of gin 1/2 pint of tonic, ice and lemon.
the capfull of gin is about 15ml, not even 1 unit, it tastes nice and instead of feeling a bit tipsy i feel nice and chilled out.
so if i have 2 gin and tonics its still less than 1 pint worth of alcohol.

I'd say one pint of Carling a lifetime was probably too much.
