Anyone had a hair transplant?
Discussion
I wasn't aware of SMP, looks fairly interesting.
To update my situation, I was shaving mine to a grade 1 for a good 6 months or so as the 'shine through' (good phrase) from straight on was bothering me quite a bit when I still had longer hair.
I've now grown it back a little bit on top, keeping the sides short, and it has reminded me that I definitely prefer my appearance with hair, and interestingly now that I'm more used to seeing myself with very short hair on top, I'm less bothered by the look of where it has thinned.
Something like the SMP looks like it'd actually be quite a sensible middle ground between staying with very short hair and going for a full on transplant. I'll keep it in mind, at the moment I'm not too fussed about how my hair is looking and I know I can always just go back to a grade 1 and it's no longer a shock or anything unusual.

Costs: €5.5k, surgery in my home city of Frankfurt, 3600 or 3800 grafts I think.
Can you tell us which surgery in Frankfurt did you got yours done please and do they have a UK branch? My procedure was carried out at First Hair Clinic in Sachsenhausen, Frankfurt.
I think they have other branches but only in Germany.
Ultimately results are largely determined by the suitability of the donor area and the skill of the surgeon and/or technicians performing the procedure.
Fortunately the three Kurdish techs were highly skilled and my donor area had great density.

Iv got smp and it means you get away with less amount of follicles as it kind of stops the shine through. Iv researched into it and personally before I get a transplant ill laser the hairline back slightly as you may see it at the hairline area below the real hair. After that its great.

What I find really dodgy about all these 'before/after' pics is the 'before' pics are usually with short hair and the 'after' with longer hair... meaning
- it's not like for like
- is the long hair perhaps hiding scars?
Hmm. Nothing ‘dodgy’ about the photos I have posted. - it's not like for like

Of course they’re not ‘like for like’. The after photos are post-procedure.
After 10 years of having very short hair, I’ve grown it out after an expensive procedure. I think that’s to be expected, normal and not dodgy at all. I’ve been completely open about my experiences and have posted loads of pictures.
There are no visible scars, although I suppose someone who had a very experienced eye could perceive the donor area as being slightly thinner if I were to shave it to a Grade 3, or something.
As I have previously said I am absolutely over the moon with my results one year on, but everyone is different; everyone is at different hair loss stages, has different expectations, some (like me) are lucky and have great donor areas, etc etc.
Here’s my donor area post-extraction:
Oh, and here is the worst ‘scarring’ picture I could find; this is 5 weeks post-op, and shows the donor area, obviously the reddish skin has now faded and it’s pretty much impossible to tell I’ve lost density:
As always, any questions, just ask.

Wasn't referring to your pics, more the ones you see on advertsOf course they’re not ‘like for like’. The after photos are post-procedure.

Looks good. Do you take fin or prop to maintain?

Nick him with a razor all over his scalp then rubbed fresh garlic in his head, how we all laughed as he screamed in pain. Don't think it worked but apparently you have to do it a few times.
I'm not sure he could ever go through that pain again lol.
Trauma does stimulate growth.I'm not sure he could ever go through that pain again lol.
Can't believe that there are actually people who think that garlic can help with hair growth. I've grown my hair long enough, and now it's very important to avoid damaging it, if I want to keep it like this. I am also using a very good conditioner from https://www.mcdaidpharmacy.ie/collections/conditio... which makes it more shiny and resistant to all the factors. I am not afraid of volume loss anymore, a healthy look all the way.

I'd prefer to just get it done in London since I'm fairly local to Harley Street anyway.
