Will Ross have plenty of visitors from the real world, or can some internet strangers maybe help to pass the time away?
Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery
I work at the general so if he ever needs anything, just let me know. I'll keep an eye out for him when I'm next in neuro ITU, one way to confuse him! Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery

Hi Ali Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery
There are always friends or family members with him during visitor hours Thanks for the offer though, I'm sure that he'll appreciate the kindness when he can read again
I'm in the waiting room at the moment and will see him shortly. I saw him yesterday and his condition is improving He's now able to open his eyes and look around
Best wishes,
Matt

That's good to know that the 'real world' is looking after our Ross for us There are always friends or family members with him during visitor hours Thanks for the offer though, I'm sure that he'll appreciate the kindness when he can read again

Do give him all the best. I'm sure there is a long road ahead that won't be easy at times, but it sounds like he is now pointed in the right direction at the very least.

Hi all, Do give him all the best. I'm sure there is a long road ahead that won't be easy at times, but it sounds like he is now pointed in the right direction at the very least.
There was some improvement yet again yesterday for Ross. His heart rate was elevated but is now settling down a bit thankfully I asked him if he was feeling a bit better and he gave a gentle nod
For those who don't know, Ross started out on PH with purchasing a Sotw, a BMW E21 316i
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...
I think it was the E21 that really got Ross into cars and PH. It turned out to be one of the best E21s in the UK and it was very, very different to anything either of us had driven before. It only weighed about 900kg, the steering was unassisted and astonishing in its feedback.
Over time Ross uprated the carburettor, put some period BBS wheels on it with sticky tyres, uprated the brakes, dropped in a 5 speed box and put stiffer suspension on it.
The result was that it was an absolute hoot to drive. Some bikers were following Ross in the Welsh mountains and they kept falling behind when the road got twisty. They followed him into a car park and couldn't believe it when they learned that it was a 30 year old, 1.8 litre car that they were struggling to keep up with. They just looked at each other silently and in disbelief.
Whilst the E21 was being serviced the BMW specialist loaned him CLZ3057. This was his first barge and 6 cylinder experience and he absolutely loved it.
He pulled up at my house and stepped out of it grinning like a Cheshire cat. All he went on about was the engine, BMWs M30 otherwise known as 'Big Six'.
It had 234,000 miles on it but it still pulled like a train. It had all the toys, a manual gearbox and a limited slip diff. The ride was nothing short of exemplary either.
I think he even cleaned it despite it being someone else's battered, spaceship milage courtesy car.
Ross is a true petrol head and BMW fan for all the right reasons. He's not interested in image or bling - He just likes cars that are bloody well engineered and make him feel special.
I can't ruddy wait until he's back in the 7 Series.
Kind regards,
Matt

Slightly off topic, but it's very interesting reading that thread with various people saying £850 is too expensive. You can't but a drivable e21 for that now; prices for all of them have gone up a lot in the last 6 years.
Ross sold it for somewhere around £2500 a couple of years later. Only a couple of hundred left now! He didn't regret selling it for the E38, mind.

Do you know what the stages of the recovery are?
I assume he is still sedated at the moment and in ICU?
Yeah he's still sedated and in ICU. Unfortunately I can't see him at the moment as he's fatigued and flat out. I assume he is still sedated at the moment and in ICU?
Some really good news today - the doc is really pleased with his progress and has removed the ventilator.
When possible, Ross has been comforted by listening to Pink Floyd - in particular his favorite album 'The Division Bell'.
A way to go on the recovery front but it's been another day of improvement
Kind regards,
Matt
