If you're not hungry you're not losing weight
This hasnt been my experience.

In fact opposite is possibly true. When I have bad days and starting eating loads of crap,I become more hungry all day, as some part of me is alert to opportunity of a fat and sugar binge, and keeps egging me on.

When I'm being good, or even fasting, body stops it's whining, and I don't get the same pangs at all.

Randomly hopped onto the scales this morning (normally do a Monday morning weigh in) - 0.9 down this week so far, feels a bit excessive. I wonder if I put weight on over the weekend, be interesting to see

Gah, 0.2kg down after 0.3 the wrong direction last week (although the Fat Club scales had me at a small loss last week). Treat day Friday last week wasn't too bonkers and then a really good week of food choices (Slimming World style). Here comes the BUT...

I went to the docs earlier this week, returned after a couple of days as things had worsened - he referred me instantly to hospital for on-call surgery, spent all day waiting, having scans etc. They offered me a procedure under a general on the day, or take some pain relief and better antibiotics and it's a job under local another day. I chose the latter (even though once it settles down it'll probably be a 2-year waiting list). But, the meds have me somewhat backed up - so a 0.2kg loss really feels like a result.

Good to see some new joiners, and others doing well. I'll try and fire off some email nudges to people who've not updated over the weekend. Wacky - I'm an insatiable binge eater, I've managed to find an approach that works. I can also fill myself up on 'allowed' foods that include healthily cooked roast spuds, unlimited rice & pasta etc. I'm sure my approach is not ideal - but it works for me and I'm very poorly wired.

I missed my regular Friday weigh-in last week and as I'm a little more self-indulgent over the weekend I delayed until Monday but frankly the result was, as anticipated, unimpressive biglaugh.

Anyway, today's weigh-in came in at 94.5kgs some 1.5kgs over 2 weeks. I've broken my 15st threshold and have achieved over 50% of my target weight loss since 6th January.

Perhaps what is more surprising is I have really grown in to the 16/8 (or in reality 17/7) fasting routine to the extent that I really think I could maintain it as a lifestyle change (including the significant reduction in alcohol consumption) although it may be a bit early to be making any rash promises smile.

2lb off this week, but I'm happy with that. Completed on the new house today so will have to be careful to lay off the takeaways while we get settled in!

This isn't healthy and won't be doing your body much good. Far better to eat more calories but the right kind of food than starve yourself. Just cut out the rubbish, eat sensibly and the weight will come off.

Is it not better to weigh in daily and track the trend. Weekly weigh ins can be effected by fluctuations.

Well I’ve come to the realisation that I need to lose weight, jumped on the scales today and I’m 15 stone, the heaviest I’ve ever been. I’m 6’4” so although not a huge weight the bmi calculator says I’m in the overweight category and I feel like it, clothes no longer fit etc.

Ideally I’d like to lose 2-3 stone and thinking of doing the 5:2 diet and generally cutting down portion sizes. I know my issue is food and also beer so that’s what I will focus on.

Ether can work, even daily weigh ins can show a difference of 3 or 4lb, do it at the same time each day of course, just don't become obsessive about the numbers.

Under 13 stone now (82kg) so pleased with the progress. Certainly look and feel a lot better.

Jan weight loss was 1kg
Feb weight loss was 4.5kg

Same diet and same exercise. The only difference is that I’ve had a couple of pints each week in Feb.

Exercise is going well and my strength is still going up despite the weight loss.

Looking back at old photos I need to drop another 5kg to get into the shape I want so will keep doing what I’m doing until I get there. Aiming for end of April/May.

If I go into the biscuit tin to get a chocolate digestive, I will return two minutes later and get another six. I could easily demolish a large family apple pie in five minutes, put a packet of crisps in front of me I'll not refuse them, even if I'm not hungry.
The only solution to this is don't buy them in the first place. I'm the same. Fig rolls are my guilty pleasure, if I buy a packet then I will have eaten most of it the same day.
If you resist the temptation to buy while you're in the supermarket, by the time you get out you will have forgotten about them and you won't miss them.

I’d say a trend is best followed with weekly or bi weekly weigh-ins. I guess it’s what works for the individual, but reading the disappointment / obsession on here when people are weighing themselves, I’d suggest removing weigh ins, do the hard work by focusing on what you’re eating, and judge yourself in the mirror.

If numbers help you, great, but a daily weigh in is going to fluctuate around a lot more than weekly.

Weigh in day and I'm stable since last week, still 79.5kg which I'm actually ok with. The last 3-4 weeks I've been up and down like a we's drawers so good to have some stability and know I'm finally under 80kg and will stay like that. Now to hopefully get under 79 next week.

I've lost just over 1kg of fat in two weeks, down from 77kg to just under 76kg first thing in the morning. Not sure of what my aim is, just to keep getting the body fat down and muscle level or up.
Just under 74kg now with the muscle intact. Not sure where to go now, just to get stronger. Maybe swap a bit more fat for muscle. I am lucky that it's been relatively easy for me, and I put that down to significantly less carbs and a lot more exercise.

I never got to my fat club weigh-in on Friday (was -0.2kg at home).

Been on some antibiotics but getting worse all week. Went to show nurse Friday, she sent me straight hospital where I was told 3 days of IV antibiotics (day treatment place). Day 2 was Saturday but they admitted me and eventually had an op under a general. Ate nothing for 24 hours and now have eaten pretty much non-stop all day today. Don't think the IF is for me!

Home now and need to draw a line under it and get back on track.

Excuses, excuses hehe

Yup I did, so only a net -0.3kg this week. Yesterday's long Sunday lunch/dinner would have been the contributing factor there I reckon!

I was ranting a few weeks ago about the "plateau" which I just could not get through no matter how I ate or exercised. Well, I've actually "paused" running for a while (I'm skiing later this week and running keeps twanging calfs/ankles and I didn't want to risk a pre-ski injury) and I'm now through the plateau...consistently under 84kg (nearly into the 82s) rather than being stuck around 85kg...hooray!!

Instead of running I've upped the ante on cycling, I did a 65 mile club ride last weekend at an average speed of 17.0 mph, which is really cracking on for that distance. I've also not been quite as good on food, and the pub has featured a few times. But for whatever reason cycling seems to be getter at shifting the kg than running for me.

However with a short ski break with the lads I am not expecting a good week (that said we do ski hard so it might balance the cheese and lager) but I have somewhat stupidly signed up to ride Lands End to John O'Groats in 10 days this summer. If that doesn't get me thin again nothing will!

Let myself down for the past week.

Had a sore back and my gouty toe was playing up so I was unable to exercise. Had a few stty days in work and drank for 3 days on the run (not a huge amount by my usual standards, maybe 4 cans of beer each night) and to top it off, got a heavy chest cold which doesn't seem to be shifting. Not been paying close attention to my diet, although my diet has never been the main issue really (big drinker).

I've put a couple of pounds back on but I'm determined not to fall into my usual trap. Now back on day three of no drinking. Just got to be patient and rest for a few days to get over this cold and gout attack and get back to it. Still a stone down compared to my starting point so not all bad.

Hope the rest of you losers are doing well!

day 37 of no drinking, exercise every day and only eating meat + veg here

lost 5.4kg and my beer belly is shrinking but still there and annoying me, my goal is to have my meet my goal (of getting rid of this stomach) by fight night on the fury usyk fight - a long way to go though smile

insane how much money i've been saving also, drank every day for the last year prior so that adds up + the takeaways and stupid decisions you make whilst intoxicated cost more than I realised!

i'll have earned that beer on fight night though! smile
