I have this - tested positive for Covid Xmas Eve, but the symptoms as exactly the same as described over the last twenty or so pages.
Right ear blocked and weeping some sort of fluid. Phlegmy cough, breathless, tightness of breath and chest pain.
No taste, smell or hearing - was a fun Christmas....
Going to call the GP again tomorrow, as I think I now have a chest infection - joy.
So, I have been given a brown inhaler (steroid) for my chest and penicillin for my ear.....time will tellRight ear blocked and weeping some sort of fluid. Phlegmy cough, breathless, tightness of breath and chest pain.

Step change for me overnight, the nasal congestion has all but gone which made for a much better nights sleep.
I'm left with a nagging dry cough and bouts of coughing up some pretty nasty stuff.
So pretty much a week and I'm well past the worst of it. I've made sure to have a good walk each day (on occasions having to drag myself out) which I think has helped - not quite ready for the bike yet but may give it a go on Wednesday.
On reflection it's been a really severe head cold but with three days of one of the worst sore throats I've every experienced.
Might have been Rona but I never tested as there is little reason to know.
TBH your last line is how I feel. I totally lost my taste and smell for a good 10 days and have had a hacking cough but haven't tested for covid as what difference does it make, seeing as there's no specific treatment. I doubt it was covid anyway as I had severe sinus pain and lots of mucus. I'm left with a nagging dry cough and bouts of coughing up some pretty nasty stuff.

I've tried to stay away from others where I can but I'm not in a position to totally self-isolate anyway.
Day 14 and I've felt well enough to get back to work; I was going nuts cooped up at home and needed to get out. I still have a slightly gruff/gravelly voice, throat is still a bit sore. The cough's still present but easing up, I think it might take a little while to shift completely.
I’d been doing odd jobs and feeling knackered afterwards, but did a good 1hr of in-car hoovering today in two cars (family car, jeez, baby bells from summer under seats, boot full of sand and pine cones haha), and felt ok afterwards.
It’s nice to actually exert myself and not feel worse afterwards!
Still tiny lingering symptoms but jeez I don’t want this again this winter.
Fingers crossed this is a nice primer for my immune system for any up-coming grotty virus!
Now on to pressure wash the cars, haven’t done them since the hose pipe ban!

Blimey - I'm suffering here too - tinnitus for a couple of months and now the dreaded blocked/painful left ear
Currently im using some drops prescribed by my doctor (and feeling really rough)
as an aside, I logged an online 111NHS consultation on Monday at lunchtime
I had a call around 17:00 to say any doctor call would be delayed as they were very busy (fair enough)
4:30am (yes you read that right) I get another call to say the same
5:30am another call to say my case had been 'allocated'
11:30 call from my doctor
12:00 I was having my ears looked at in the surgery
I'm looking forward to hearing the feedback you get from the ENT specialist!
Went to see the ENT today, confirmed Sinusitis and to use a saline nasal rinse to help get rid.Currently im using some drops prescribed by my doctor (and feeling really rough)

Typically i was already feeling better over the weekend but I’m going to crack on rinsing anyway as I suspect it’ll just come back otherwise
Day 24 and still not quite right. Still limited smell or taste, I've got a summer fruits/strawberry robinsons cordial, and when I drink that it tastes really musty, like its been sat around in a schoolbag for 3 months. I can't detect salt at all, the more sugar that goes in my tea, the more bitter it tastes. Ham makes my tongue tingle, almost like its dusted with chilli flakes.
The main symptom now is sudden onset fatigue, and the occasional shortness of breath. I have to stop every now and again, and focus on breathing, it feels like I just can't take a full lungful of air.
The fatigue ebbs and flows, if I do too much one day, I'll pay for it the next. Without warning, I'll just feel like all my energy just vanishes. If I go to sleep, I don't get tired later, and my sleep patterns go out the window. Still got the thick, sticky snot too, although it's subsiding. Residual cough but nothing too bad.
A normal cold will see me use half to 3/4 of a bog roll, a bad cold up to 1 and a half rolls. I'm halfway through bog roll #4. Still improving slowly, although painfully aware that it's friday 13th this week

Your right on the fatigue that was really the worst of this. Think a week or so into I went to tesco at lunchtime which is about a mile walk (and back) by the time I came back home I was exhausted and ended up sleeping for 5 hours! Keep going chaps all will be well soon your body will beat this crap.
It’s unbelievable how it just won’t go away. I’m still not right and went down on Dec 17/18. It’s like a regular cold now. Still a hacking cough and congestion but the real killer is the exhaustion yet not being able to sleep.
Finally managed to go for a walk today - about an hour but I was coughing the whole way. So so so done.

I visit this thread to cheer me up, knowing it's not just me who's still suffering with this damn evil cold!
I'm 3.5 weeks into this now and still not right. I've got a bit of sinusitis still, but it's the exhaustion that's doing me ! I'm still sleeping a couple of hours a night more than normal and waking up tired out for good measure. Since I picked this bug up in mid December my Fitbit is saying my resting heart rate is up about 10%, so something is still clearly not right. The last time I had something drag on like this was the only time I've had Flu, albeit I was much more unwell with that, the exhaustion during recovery was similar though.

Are you sure you're drinking cordial? That sounds like a nice St Emilion to me.Cousin Dupree said:

Had a cold for a few weeks last year, then got covid, I feel ok now except occasionally I get a bit of sinus pain and the cough that comes back out of nowhere.
Have been able to return to exercise and that feels fine, other than a bit of loss of fitness. Its very odd

I know I’m tempting fate saying this, but I think I’m finally in the clear after about 4 weeks. I’ve managed to exercise quite vigorously for the past few days without feeling like the illness is holding me back. Muscles and joints have stopped aching and the pressure in my ear has gone. Taste wasn’t a problem, as I didn’t think I’d lost it, but seems to be back with a vengeance and everything tastes very strong, but in a good way.
Keep the faith guys, there is an end in sight.

Fingers crossed you stay "clean"! One other thing I did notice although cardio work is ok and back to normal, I did some weight lifting, and my legs just did not want to play ball. I lowered the weight a lot and started easy but half way through my sets my legs felt like they were going to give way, and they ached for days after. Im sure I hadnt over done it, but it felt odd and wonder if thats another effect of the lurgeyKeep the faith guys, there is an end in sight.
I’m having it a lot milder than some of you guys but it’s dragging on and starting to ps off SWMBO.
Just when I think the worst is over it comes back.
I’m not getting fatigue or loss of taste but I can’t shake the dry throat and hacking cough which brings up phlegm from my chest.
I’m going to dig out my company health insurance details tomorrow and see if I can speak to a GP. Not sure what they’ll say apart from rest and wait.
