I've had to swap from Elvanse to Amfexa due to the shortage - 50mg Elvanse (Which they were saying should ideally be increased a bit) to 2x 10mg Amfexa.

Anyone else? Not sure how I'm gelling with it - sometimes the timings seem "off", Has anyone got a decent routine going? Have been trying to aim for ~8AM & 2PM.

I am on 30mg of Elvanse. I am currently trying 7:30, 11,00 and 15:00 of 5mg amfexa.

I find it only lasts about 3-4 hours at most so have an alarm on my phone to remind me before it has completely worn off.

It's not really working that well still. But better than nothing.

I have also gone from Elvanse to amfexa (dexamfetamine).
it's ste, I hate it.
the Elvanse feels like a giant, soft, almost imperceptible 'helping hand' pushing me along and helping me cycle uphill.
In comparison the dexamfetamine is like being hit in the back by a range rover.
I know it's the the same active drug compound, but the way it 'comes on' (and turns off) is brutal (for me).

I'm stealing that, a great way to describe it

I ran out (Elvanse 50) yesterday. Luckily the chemist had my prescription in for 4 days and didn't tell me they couldn't fill it, which is unhelpful. Was really anxious about not being able to function so will be functioning on 2hrs sleep and no meds today!

Will have to see if I can get a call into my GP this morning to get an alternative.

I had that last week when being messed around by the clinic and pharmacy. Up to 3am worrying.

My advice is be the squeaky wheel and get the grease.

Anyone have any tips / tricks for concentration at work?

I find I multi-task (work things or surf the web) during pretty much every zoom meeting that isn't a 1-2-1 with someone.

My attention span is incredibly small unless I am active on the call or highly invested in the topic.

This often means I miss details, that I should know about even though not directly related to me. A number of times people will say 'you we're on that call, do you remember X' and I'll have no idea.

I am now on one 5mg amfexa in the morning (about 7-7:30), then a half one at about 11am, then another half at about 3pm.

This seems to stop the big crash and give more of an Elvanse feel to the day.

Anyone got an update on supplies yet?

spoke to a pharmacist yesterday who said they had updated information from the manufacture (Takeda) - can't remember the details (hmmm... alanis morrisette), I think they said early-mid November for return of 30mg doses, with some (higher?) doses already being restocked at wholesalers.

I'd better start calling round pharmacies again then! My GP didn't bother calling me back and in the week since I ran out of my meds I've averaged 5 hrs sleep a night (including taking sleeping tablets). Huge mood swings too

I work in this field now and get asked this all day everyday.

You can check local boots stock on their website to save ringing or attending pharmacies. Elvanse is hard to get right now, you could ask whoever prescribes for Dexamfetamine instead for some sort of cover. Anticipated restock for 30mg plus should be end of Nov/early Dec.

Thanks for posting this. I've just been to the nearest Boots to me that had stock. However, their stock apparently includes current prescriptions so that stock is in effect already allocated to someone else. In contrast to what I was told at my local branch last week, they can order Elvanse in, but it could be weeks before they get a delivery.

Apparently the options are:
- leave my prescription with one pharmacy and wait until they get some in and I'm next in line
- ring round every pharmacy to see who has stock
- just go without

I've been waiting for my first meeting to get my first set of Meds, but I've been told this morning that it's all on hold until the shortages are resolved. I guess there's no point raising a prescription if I'm not going to be able to get any.

this is as if i've wrote this.

i've been told i have ADHD a few times by diff people. have done 4 online tests and all say i have it definitely. usually 80-90% score on all

however, my answer back is is it because i have 0 interest in the job / industry im working for.??

if the talks were about subjects i enjoy then my concentration is far better.

surely for us all if the meeting was about knitting or politics in zimbabwe wed all switch of aswell?

Update: made myself a nuisance with my GP and insisted I needed an alternative. He spoke to a local chemist who could dispense Elvanse and told me that apparently it is slowly coming back into stock.

Its unlikely the GPs first choice would be Elvanse. Usually first line treatment is some sort of Methylphenidate which to my knowledge has no shortage. Its worth you asking the question for sure.

I think this is one of the things that often gets misunderstood about ADHD. The "different wiring" doesn't always mean that people with ADHD can't concentrate, in fact quite the opposite, when they are engaged and invested in something, they are able to do so at a much higher level than "normal" peers, sometimes to the point of being obsessive. But of course the opposite is true when trying to engage with something that just doesn't spark. Sadly, however well you have adapted to life, there are times when you must complete tasks that don't engage.

I really think that from a job perspective it's worth using the condition as an excuse to find a role that engages, stimulates and involves, before necking meds everyday to tolerate something that you we not born to do.

I struggled for motivation at various unsuitable jobs for many years.

I now have a job that I enjoy far more. I get satisfaction from it, I don't watch the clock and I am good at some of it (it's a pity that the money significantly lower....).

I do still struggle with aspects of it that other people do not to anywhere near the same extent, though. To the confusion/frustration of others....
