Primary Brain Tumor (Glioma)
Discussion
You Sir are made of strong stuff. I had to compose myself after reading some of your words.
I had this last year with heart valve failure. The rub for me was the operation being 8 weeks before the birth of our first son. The NHS were simply superb, and I’m almost fully recovered.
I didn’t really understand mental health two years ago. I do now. It was quite sobering sorting my affairs. Writing down passwords etc.
Get well soon.

Discharge from the consultant, positive news. Biopsy results next Thursday at clinic, referall to speech and language therapy on the way (super frustrating, its like a stroke in terms of prep & planning and getting words out edgeways!) (they checked and its all OK!) Responding quickly & positively! ![beer](/inc/images/beer.gif)

I've just come across this thread, I don't post too often and wish I'd seen it sooner.
First off, that's great news Craig, that moment of coming out of GA and realising 'it's been done' was a monumental relief for you I'd bet.
My wife had a night time seizure about 6 years ago, she'd been experiencing weakness on her left side, in particular her leg but put it down to a hip problem and 'just some bug'. Once in hospital a scan revealed a tumour 'just larger than a tennis ball', we were abroad at the time and getting back to the UK wasn't a relaxing experience. The op followed pretty quickly and like you after coming round she found her speech was affected, just a bit slurry, she'd also gone cross eyed. Her left side was very weak with hardly any mobility.
I think so soon after after the trauma of an op there's bound to be symptoms. Rehab went well and it wasn't long before these after effects were in the past, - you're a young guy Craig and that's a lot in your favour, rooting for you mate!

Sit rep: considerably more human for a shower and a sleep (in my own bed!). Bit of a muddle/ aphasia, but noticing progress (planning/typing is quicker & easier, if not yet speaking).
Dressing is off, they've worked a number on my lid!!! Chicks dig scars, right!?
Over thinning/bald spots..? ![paperbag](/inc/images/paperbag.gif)
![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Doing some initial research on speech & language therapists locally (The irony & instant frustration of the insurance company wanting to speak to me..)![banghead](/inc/images/banghead.gif)
![biglaugh](/inc/images/biglaugh.gif)
Onwards and upwards!!
Cheers,
Craig
