Smiffy is squatting a weight I can squat (for 1/3 as many reps)! Woooooohooooooooooooo.
You'll be back to full strength really soon, big guy.
Haha! You'll be back to full strength really soon, big guy.
Not soon enough
Think I've still got another 3 weeks of 15 rep stuff before going down to around 10 rep range.
I'm trying to push my 15rm each week to hopefully increase my strength when I get back to heavy work.
150x15 beltless is the aim currently in the next few weeks.

Yesterday 50km fast bike ride with a few Strava PBs.
Congrats!I did a (for me) hard 50km road bike ride on Saturday. Cool weather, no wind...got my first Strava KOM! Quite pleased!
Also logged 102km/h downhill...fastest I've ridden since my twenties.
Did a 40km mtb recovery ride with a mate on Sunday.
Took yesterday off.
Going on the exercise bike for a couple of hours this Evening, might just watch a movie and do a steady 150bpm, 'cause my legs still ache.
Tomorrow there is a club ride, 60km in 2 hours...so I'd like some energy for that.
Feeling strong on the bike at the moment.

Will you get the bug?
I'm no longer build for running distance, though I can still sprint pretty well. Next time I'll probably have a short run to warm up, then do shuttle sprints, feel I get more bang for buck then. The dog enjoys it though, and it's sunny at the park, so it's nice to be outside!

I never was built for distance. Try a parkrun, it's cool to be a Númenórean running with hobbits.
5k, nice distance for normal sized people.

Need to get my shins and lower back up to speed before I try anything like that- they're the main things that slow me down by tightening/getting pumped. My dog's also better company than real people, even if he gets in the way 50% of the time I never was built for distance. Try a parkrun, it's cool to be a Númenórean running with hobbits.

General Physical Preparedness - I want to be able to jump up and sprint 200m if it was a requirement, and do it quickly.
At the moment I'd probably jump up, pull a muscle, cramp my shins and trip over
I also like being fit, I think it'll be best served by sprint conditioning TBH, so will likely do that. I walk a few miles at lunch each day, and can walk forever, but that doesn't raise the heart beat much.

Training going awesome, Sunday was a two and a half hour group ride on the road, still a bit knackered from Saturday. Mirror muscles trained in the evening at the gym, then yesterday one hour recovery on the turbo. This morning, two hour ride on the road - fairly lumpy, legs feel real good. Then 120 pull ups completed at home. Back actually feels like it's healing. Happy

Crazy session tonight.
My lifting coach has a theory that anyone can squat there 5x5 weight for 20 reps unbroken. It's all in the head apparently.
So my session was
120kg x 20 (obviously tough but amazed I did it)
5x 6 jump squats (60kg)
5x3 high hang clean @70kg
4x 1 (2x high pull, 1x clean 1 x hang clean).
4x10 Romanian dead lift (the hardest part of the session)
Superset
5x5 strict press
5x5 dumbbell jerk.

But that 120kg x 20 is awesome! Well done.
Only light training for me. I've got a lumbar facet joint sprain, which is giving me all sorts of irritation. Not pain as such, just constantly tight muscles in my lower back.
Squatting, deadlifts, rows etc. are all out of the question for the next few weeks so I'm just going to concentrate on core strength work and regular sessions at the chiro to get it sorted.

Well done on the 120 for 20, solid.
For me>
Deadlift: 220x 5 not feeling it today, lower back seems frazzled
Dips: +55x 19
Incline smith: 120x 12
BHN Smith: 80x 11
CG pull downs: stack + red band: lots
that was that. Pressing feels awesome, deadlifts not so much. Deads felt hard with 60kg, so I knew it wasn't going to be PB territory, gave up before I had to start grinding, back better next time.....

120kg for 20 is no easy feat, both mentally and physically, well done indeed!
I did a fairly heavy day today. Well, didn't mean to, just turned out that way as I felt quite good...
Back Extensions - 2x20
Leg Press - 6x12-5 and a few singles
Bench press - 6x12-5 reps
Power Clean - 8x2 reps
High Pulls - 4x10-5 reps
face Pulls - 4x12-10 reps
Wide Grip Pull Up - 4x12-8 reps
BB BOR - 4x12-8 reps
Seated Pulley Row - 4x12-10 reps
Rack Pulls - 3x5 and 3x1 up to 200kg. That was quite a moment for me, as this was the first time in my life I actually held 200kg, albeit a lowly rack pull. I shall hopefully Deadlift that in a few months.
