Had a solid effort over Easter, didn't go crazy with the food and stayed away from alcohol.

Have shifted the horrible cold I had a few weeks ago so was able to attack training last week and dropped another kg last week, bringing it to a 18.2kg loss since start of Jan

New to the thread, haven't read the 1st 47 pages but at the point I need to give myself a solid kick up the rear and shed a few lbs...
41, 42 in a few months. 6' 1", 280lbs. Used to weightlift, play rugby etc but due to various work and accident related injurys I am nowhere near as active as i'd like.
Frequently told I don't look 20st but I feel it. Hope to post the odd bit of good progress and find some inspiration if that's ok thumbup

Thanks

Chaz

Good luck to you. My approach is to have a diet each day that I would be happy to spend the rest of my life on. But if I have a bad day or my weight sticks for a week I don't give up. Being honest with myself and getting into good habits are the key things.

Welcome to the thread, you sound very similar to me - former rugby player, knackered back & shoulders stopped play, muscle turned to fat gradually over the years. Was 21st6lbs back in October, which genuinely scared me as I hadn't weighed myself for a couple of years. Now nudging below 19st - still a long way to go, but slow and steady wins the race. Keto diet seems to work best for me - I've tried everything over the years laugh

Thanks for the replies above folks, measured my waist this morning as per British Heart Foundation website guide - 49.5" which has shocked me!!! I wear a 42" jean (Levi's are my poison - other brands available) currently, would like to get my 38's on comfortably along with the weight target.
I'd be lying if I said I will cut all good stuff out but the biggie to start with, sadly, is the beer...

Regularly have 10-12 pints without thinking, if not more! Not during the week but easily on a Friday & Saturday. Resulting effects mean I am groggy and lazy for the next few days and I hate that. Not an alky but I know I am a binge drinker.

I weigh every day in LB's. Thanks all and keep up the good work, 1 day at a time.

Chaz

Eta initial target weight is 262 lbs or 18 st which would be a big milestone for me. I'll never be like some who have lost 70-80lbs, too stocky

4% bodyfat dropped since Xmas according to Boditrax with a 3KG loss in weight too (Not that bothered about the weight but delighted with the BF loss if the scan was actually accurate)

I know its just a phrase but muscle doesn't turn to fat, it is replaced by it if you don't maintain it. Ask me how I know! smile

Major wobble here, the rowing machine is saving me, but my diet has been absolutely horrendous. I've eaten like a pig, school holidays etc. and way too many takeaways. Mentally I've lost my diet completely.

+0.2kg but it feels much worse than that and I can see it going on me (or my brain tells me I can).

Writing this down in the hope it kicks me into gear. Starting right now with a proper food diary of everything I shovel in my gob. Still 9kg loss for the year, but it could easily be much more by now.

Usually posters and these threads fizzle out - I'm determined to get back on track.

Fresh start today if anyone else needs a kick up the bum and well done to everyone still doing well.

Same boat man, I've not tracked my eating over my holiday, back to school Monday so will start doing so then and regular weigh ins. Keep it up!!

Finally got round to ordering a set of bathroom scales which arrived yesterday and weighed in at 93.3kg. Not sure what I was just over 3 weeks ago when I started, but I have noticed a slight decrease in belly fat so it's baby steps at least. Doing 1 personal training session a week, plus 5 a side after a work on a tuesday and then a class or self work out in the gym too, so 3 sessions roughly.

Up 1.3kg in 2 weeks over Easter. Some of that is water weight, but some is chocolate, cake and more chocolate. Got another 8 weeks or so now to focus before the next long break.

Did my first weigh in for nearly 3 weeks - up 0.5kg - which actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be

I’m down 1.7kg this year but to be honest that’s not great at all - weight now 85kg

I’ve a few excuses. A heavy cold or possibly covid has restricted my activity for the last 4 weeks. I’ve started suffering with pretty severe tennis elbow again and have developed a dodgy right shoulder. These are restricting pressing and pulling in the gym.

The main reason for the lack of progress though is hammering the beer at a beer festival for 3 days, meeting up with friends and hammering the beer for a couple of days and just generally eating too much. I’ve enjoyed it so I can’t really complain but I need to moderate better.

I’m more or less over the bug now so will up my activity working around the various aches and pains. I’ve also got less social activity on for a few weeks so will knock the drink on the head again and WILL sort my excess eating out!

That's two suits and some polo's dropped of to the local charity shop. All too big now and determined to keep it off for good this time so don't want them hanging around the house. Feels good, expensive loss mind you but good none-the-less biglaugh

Well done. A challenge is to not go back to that size.

I've survived a few days with family over from abroad. Ate too many biscuits and sweets but countered that by football and frisbee throwing with a 7 year old. Still 12st 5lbs. Phew!

Happy with my weigh in today considering the alcohol and food I put away over Easter. Finally, under the 14 stone mark. (13st 11lbs) from 15st 4lbs in January. All done by fasting with little to no exercise or dieting involved. It's mainly the evening junk eating I used to do that has been cut out. Mrs. Toon has lost 2 stone, but she is doing a full-on diet and exercise regime. We're both happy with our results so far.

I've stayed exactly the same for about a month now which is more than a little frustrating as i've been exercising 5/6 times a week (mix of low intensity and high intensity stuff) and also eating much better with no snacks or takeaways. Usually this approach sees my weight drop off but absolutely nothing this time. Very frustrating and feels like i'm wasting my time. May be a health related issue though as i'm currently waiting for an ultrasound to check out some stomach pains i've been having. Has been mentioned to the doctor who didn't seem unduly worried.

I've been weighing every day under the 'try something a little different' approach. It does bounce around a bit even on days you don't expect it.

But today marked 10kg for the year. The 10th kg has taken an age, but I made it. My approach is slimming world style for those who haven't tried/considered it. Basically low fat, but I can munch pasta, rice and potatoes. Lots of 'syn free' recipes online. I don't drink which probably makes it easier!

It's never too late to try again or make positive changes to your diet and movement.

after my blip saturday night I've made a concerted effort this week

Sunday 15k steps done walking snake pass to B29 oversposed and back
have made msyelf go for a walk at lunch even when no colleagues were going to join me and I've eaten less.

I'm almost back on track, down to 72.2kg which gives me 2.2kg to lose in 3.5 weeks to hit the recorded target. Will have a try on of the old suit this weekend and see how close i really am.
