Well, I trained my deadlifts at least, and puked two more reps @170kg than I'd aimed for!! Usually train squat and deadlift together, but I know how I usually feel afterwards so work came first today. Walking up a local hill with school this AM, can't have S3 laughing at my inability to keep up with them... smile
Haha, I'm only kidding of course, I know you're always flogging your arse off. Are you a teacher?

I was legs this morning too. Up to 107.5kg squats with 3*5 and 1*6, plus lunges and leg presses. Finished with some extensions. There's now a photo of Jay Cutler staring me down at the squat rack so it's hard not to feel inspired and/or pathetic.

Yeah, I'm a teacher, don't let anyone tell you any different, it is the best job in the world; I changed career at 50 and am loving it. I'm glad I only pulled the deadlifts though, last bit of the hill was a set of steps that seemed to go on forever....made me more determined to try the stairmaster on my non weights days.... When I'm training squats and deads together, or any of my other compound movements, it's up to one work set of each, 10 reps minimum, looking for functional fitness rather than maximum oomph now. I finish with the same 'all over' circuit every workout, seems to be helping overall fitness

Nice. Did I read on here that you used to be a bouncer? If so, are the kids old enough to regale them with tales of yore?

Initially I thought that's some career change, but I suppose you're dealing with cheeky little bds either way.

You need to write a book. I'd buy it.

beer That's very kind, but I always equated door work to being a driving instructor. 90% of the time you were bored out of your mind, 10% of the time you were in fear of serious injury or worse.... smile

Opening line of the first chapter right there.

No training for nearly 10 days for me unfortunately with feeling so bloody horrible... MRI scan results and bloods et on 15th June; decide after that whether I need another op/procedure & whether to go private or not

But did manage oull ups yesterday (only 25 as I'm washed out currently) and some chest (light incline bench with 20kg and 25kg dumbbells) and 8 sets of 10 with 60kg on flat bench... Every rep paused to make me work a bit harder. Some tricep pushdowns with some bodyweight hangs (great for decompressing the back & shoulders) and that was enough

I'll do grip later this afternoon and see how I fair after that

Had a wee blip, signed off work till next week. Had a wee bike ride yesterday and went to gym on bike today. All wee bits of cardio that will help hopefully.

Shoulders today, feel like I'm back to square one, but then Had no protein since last week (tub on order) and eaten very little till yesterday

Seated dumbell press 35kg x 10, absolute grind, these were flying up last week!

Shrugs 50kg dumbells x 25, single arm rows same weight x 25 per side, clasp grip 40kg front dumbell raise x 10, lateral raises 17.5kg x 10, dumbell to overhead from floor 27.5 x 10 each arm.

Clean and press 50kg x 10
Barbell unloaded curls x 15, 50kg x 10

Squat jump floor slams x 10, Rotational slams x 10 per side...felt like I was struggling through treacle by this point. But, done.

Under 20st now, just...19st 13lb, so landmark. Need to keep it off, two stone to go, ideally three!!

Thanks pal... It's hard work but need to keep moving when I can otherwise I seize up!

I'm down to 119kg now; I haven't been this light since mid 2000s when my competing career really took off... My 1st ever comp (Feb 2001) I weighed in at 115kg and a few years in the 120kg class I soon moved into the 125kg class, and then 125kg + (heavyweights) biggrin

However the difference is I was strong as a bull back then; now I'm withering slowly and losing size along with it mad My legs have shrunk massively, as have my hips/glutes etc - my backs still wide but that's maintained with all the pull ups etc...

Everything else is just light weights and reps to keep my blood moving!

Did some grip Tuesday evening - 60mm bar overhand grip rack pulls from under knee height - 60-100kg for 10s & then 2" vertical pin lifts - 10x01s with 60kg. That was enough.

Bad day yesterday with little food intake, so no training

Will train today, a bit of shoulders and see if I can do some light dumbbell SLDLs and leave it at that

Taking each day as I can; as sometimes I feel like death.

Shoulders done...

Bodyweight narrow-grip pull ups super-setted with 15kg dumbbell lateral raises - 5 working sets, 6s with pull ups, 15s for dumbbell raises

Seated dumbbell shoulder press - 20 with 15kg, 18 with 20kg, 15 with 25kg and 8 with 32.5kg - bit too much TBH

Pulley upright rows with 25kg - 4 sets of 10

That's enough

Yup; happy with what I did, left me wiped out but moving is better than the alternative!

See how I feel tomorrow and go from there

Few days off for me so was good to get out on the bike for a few hours today with some nice hills. Then my mate had a massive crash and got took away in an ambulance. Selfish bd basically ruined my day, as well as someone's dry stone wall.

Had a week in Greece last week and was planning to take it easy. Instead I hired a road bike and did a load of altitude including a 1,600m mountain biggrin Also one bodyweight strength session, which is the best I could do.

Going to focus on the strength training now and keep the cycling ticking over at this level.

Went to gym @1pm, lasted ten minutes. Seems if the heads not right, neither is the heart. I'm gonna go at my usual early bird time tomorrow and rattle out a workout regardless.
