Anyone had a hair transplant?
Discussion
The transplanted hairs last for a lifetime apparently. I'm 37 and it is likely that I've done the majority of my balding... They strongly advise not to do it before your mid thirties for that very reason!
I'm fairly confident it should look great for a good number of years- easy to say now but I'll be less bothered in my late 50s onwards about my hair than right now.

That looks amazing. I too am curious what longevity the surgeon predicts now. I read last week that Rooney is having to have his done again as its not worked long term.
Thanks.Rooney is an odd case. If you look at his hair when he was a lad he was already receding then!
I think he is one of the few that needs to accept the procedure may not be for him. It doesn't work for everybody.
Yes La Liga, I went to that very clinic, endorsed by Spex ( and he certainly has done a lot of research!!) on Wimpole Street.
It doesn't matter which clinic you go to and how many endorsements it has you still worry, or at least I did. It's such a massive procedure- and so very noticeable that I can't believe anyone would consider doing it 'on the cheap'.
I obviously made sure I'd done as much research as I could- but the next year or so will confirm if all went well! I'm certainly happy with the hairline- it's age appropriate for one. I'm going through the toughest bit- the shock loss is really starting to show. I'm wearing a cap so that helps but hate that look, I look like a born again yob!

Interesting thread. How long does the transplant hair tend to last?
Yes will last a lifetime- best to get a hair transplant in your mid 30s onwards has most of your natural hair will have receded by then.I'm happy with growing old with my hair looking like it does even now- for a chap nearing his 40s I'd now say I look quite young for my age!

Is this the male equivalent of a boob job ?
In a way yes.I'm by no means vain but your hairline makes such a huge difference imo. I'm 37 and most people think I look 20-25 years old. But the hair just looked off somehow- baby faced with very receding hair looked crap.
I am now starting to feel miles more confident- and in the end that's all that matters.

- How long did it take before you were to able to go out in public without it looking like you had work done i.e. no visible signs of blood and redness etc? From memory a while... If I'm honest you won't get away with your work colleagues not noticing. Best being upfront about- there's nothing to be ashamed about!
- How did you deal with work and colleagues etc? E.g. did you just take two weeks off work and then turn up again with a slightly different looking head of hair? What were the reactions/comments? Were you up front about it before you got the work done?
As above- I was honest. Some were actually interested in the cost and the results and 2 have gone now gone ahead with a transplant!
Those are the parts I haven't figured out how to deal with, if I were to get work done.
It's worth it mate- go for it! Just find a good reputable clinic!- How did you deal with work and colleagues etc?
