The transplanted hairs last for a lifetime apparently. I'm 37 and it is likely that I've done the majority of my balding... They strongly advise not to do it before your mid thirties for that very reason!

I'm fairly confident it should look great for a good number of years- easy to say now but I'll be less bothered in my late 50s onwards about my hair than right now.

That looks amazing. I too am curious what longevity the surgeon predicts now. I read last week that Rooney is having to have his done again as its not worked long term.
Thanks.

Rooney is an odd case. If you look at his hair when he was a lad he was already receding then!

I think he is one of the few that needs to accept the procedure may not be for him. It doesn't work for everybody.

And here it is, nearly a month on.

I’ve started the ‘shock loss’ phase. Few hairs from the transplanted area are appearing in my hand as I shampoo the hair.

It’s all good though and I’m feeling much happier- even now!

Looks really good, and big kudos to you for posting the photos and info in the thread.
Not a problem- will keep updating this thread until the final results... At least there's something for me to look forward to in winter!

Very informed post La liga.

I did ring Dr Ball but in the end went for The Harley Street Hair clinic. I wouldn't have touched Turkey- and loads more in the UK. I even read bad things about Farjo which was much closer to where I live.

I feel confident about my choice!

Yes La Liga, I went to that very clinic, endorsed by Spex ( and he certainly has done a lot of research!!) on Wimpole Street.

It doesn't matter which clinic you go to and how many endorsements it has you still worry, or at least I did. It's such a massive procedure- and so very noticeable that I can't believe anyone would consider doing it 'on the cheap'.

I obviously made sure I'd done as much research as I could- but the next year or so will confirm if all went well! I'm certainly happy with the hairline- it's age appropriate for one. I'm going through the toughest bit- the shock loss is really starting to show. I'm wearing a cap so that helps but hate that look, I look like a born again yob!

Still not a huge deal to report. We’re 8 weeks in and the the shock loss stage appears to have stopped.

I’m hoping that in the next 8-12 weeks the start of natural looking hair with nice density will show.

The aim is still to update this thread monthly or so.

Thats looking good, are you happy with it, any problems along the way,?
Thank you- happy so far of course, more hairs are sprouting up now and I think that from now on the hair density will keep improving!

No problems at all either!

Interesting thread. How long does the transplant hair tend to last?
Yes will last a lifetime- best to get a hair transplant in your mid 30s onwards has most of your natural hair will have receded by then.

I'm happy with growing old with my hair looking like it does even now- for a chap nearing his 40s I'd now say I look quite young for my age!

Is this the male equivalent of a boob job ?
In a way yes.

I'm by no means vain but your hairline makes such a huge difference imo. I'm 37 and most people think I look 20-25 years old. But the hair just looked off somehow- baby faced with very receding hair looked crap.

I am now starting to feel miles more confident- and in the end that's all that matters.

Forgot to update this thread!

8 months in- 4 months to go!

The haircut is appalling as I haven’t been to a barbers since the procedure. Density is improving slowly but definitely surely!

I’m close to 8 months. No idea how the surgeon did this was just 1700 FU (grafts). The left isn’t shaven, it was just a shocking case of ‘the monk’.
Mind-blowing result. You must be over the moon!

9 months on...

Now at a stage where I’d be happy with it as it is now. What’ll happen over the next 3 months or more I’m not sure it terms of more density but as I said happy with how it looks now.

I feel massively more confident!

Ignore the very dry skin which is totally unrelated to the transplant.

So this is my result- 15 months on. I’m dead chuffed- looks natural for a man of nearly 40:

Before:

Et voilà, 15 months on:

- How long did it take before you were to able to go out in public without it looking like you had work done i.e. no visible signs of blood and redness etc? From memory a while... If I'm honest you won't get away with your work colleagues not noticing. Best being upfront about- there's nothing to be ashamed about!

- How did you deal with work and colleagues etc? E.g. did you just take two weeks off work and then turn up again with a slightly different looking head of hair? What were the reactions/comments? Were you up front about it before you got the work done?

As above- I was honest. Some were actually interested in the cost and the results and 2 have gone now gone ahead with a transplant!

Those are the parts I haven't figured out how to deal with, if I were to get work done.
It's worth it mate- go for it! Just find a good reputable clinic!
