Well, out of shape/unfit I suppose. Either way though, still plenty of room for improvement My weights plan does include back legs and hips but I could probably improve on it if I am honest. Gotto switch it up, keep the body guessing

Maybe instead of doing things like cardio on a treadmill or anything similar which bores you to death take up a sport. That way, you'll learn new skills, meet people and great way to give you focus on training in the gym which can compliment each other.
I took up tennis 3 years ago and went from a complete noob to now competing in the regional leagues. Turns out years of playing basketball and football, I was able to transfer the coordination skills over to tennis. Along with tennis, I do heavy heavy compound lifts in the gym and combined with eating clean, in the best shape of my life at 36 with a ripped physique at 6% BF.

Amare; Evidence does seem to be mounting towards a sport to get in to, and to be honest I had never really thought of tennis and I do have facilities near by too. I shall think a bit more about it and see what is nearby that really interests me.
skibum; No, not yet unfortunately. I was rear ended in traffic a few weeks ago and god only knows what I did yesterday but my neck is the worst it's been since the accident. For now I'm giving a it a precautionary break until monday and then I shall tentatively begin again. I am really interested in the c25k though. Everything I have heard about it has been really encouraging and I think it would be a great way to get started.

I've started playing a lot of dodgeball because you can be incompetent and nobody will know. Tennis on the other hand (which I love, too) it's really obvious that I'm st at it. It probably comes from spending the last 20 years of my life mucking about with weapons rather than rackets.

It is, I ran 7.5km last night, my furthest yet and before I did the C25K I would never have thought I'd ever do that. I ache less this morning than I did after some of the early much shorter runs Hoofy said:

The trouble with that is I reached the point with martial arts that I need to be fitter to do it, where I originally started as a way to get fit.I love weapons.

Used to love the weapons stuff though.
Met my wife through martial arts so it's no guarantee of staying single, but it does mean arguments could get messy

I wouldn't recommend martial arts as, while it's interesting, it's not exactly fun. At best you might smile at something.

Have you tried walking ? I walk three miles to work and three miles home, alright once you get into the swing of it. Plus there's no damage to joints. I'm mid fifties and had my BP done yesterday @121/77 , pulse rate @ rest around 46-50. Leaving the car at home has not only saved me money, it's also improved and maintained a reasonable level of fitness.skibum; No, not yet unfortunately. I do walk, normally 10-15, maybe 20 miles a week but I'm getting a bit bored with how long I spend doing it and my schedule just got a hell of a lot tighter with my new job.
