Two qwells - two nightol and a couple of pints sort me out when flying back from the west coast.
Nytol I've tried once or twice and just get a headache the next day.As someone has said, basically stay up a long time before the flight so you are so knackered by the time you board you'll be asleep.

unless its a business trip, the staying up late [or not going to sleep at all] is the most fun option have rolled into the hotel at 9am to collect cases, keeping the taxi waiting, on more than a few occasions. My wife is a very poor sleeper and sometimes uses zopiclone. I normally take 1/2 a pill when flying from here back to the UK (As I need to get to sleep fast, being only a 6 and a bit hour flight over night and having to drive the next day) and they work really well - My god, they don't half taste gopping though.

Zopiclone risk it....
Is this off the shelf stuff or prescription?I explained the above to my doc and they have no issues doing it as long as i didnt use it every day.
Well Nytol (the two a night ones) work for me. They're only mildly sedative so I use them in combination with a meal & a couple of drinks and then good for 2-3hrs sleep on the plane. This is usually sufficient to stay awake long enough to sleep at a normal time in the new time zone. I've never suffered any side effects from them.
Sleeping on planes is the only answer to jet lag in my experience. I make it a priority to get some kip and haven't been jet lagged since.

Is it a good idea to be zonked out on a plane for hours? Boots and Tesco both do an over-the-counter sleep aid based on antihistimines - they actually work very well but can leave you feeling a bit hungover so don't drive for about 10hrs after taking them if you haven't used them before.
