do it for your family, they dont want to see you chained to an oxygen tank in later years, 2 1/2 months now, a week on patches then cold turkey, i no longer feel like a need a ciggy, and my bank balance has allowed me to purchase two top seats for the British GP this year

Mmmmm, lovely fags....

Only joking, 4th month myself and it gets easier by the day.
Same here.

Relapsed once a few weeks ago, and I damn near heaved.

I do crave them something rotten once in a while though.

Good luck fella. Me and the Mrs stopped on Feb 1st and are delighted to now be non-smokers. Now if I could just stop whacking a bottle of wine down my throat every night.........

I hear Cotty has had a bad first day going cold-turkey.

Went postal and smashed the windows of a bank in the City apparently.

Secretly, I'd love to give up the tabs, and the booze.

They're just so moreish.

I'm on my 11th day of going straight cold turkey without any assistance.

Have to say it has been tough at times so far.

I've already passed 2 huge tests for me. 1st was a night out in a bar. While I didn't get hammered, I had a few bevvies a coped ok and last night was a stay in and mullered a bottle and a half of wine while the missus was out. Didn't succumb and I have to say I'm quite proud of myself.

I just hope that the cravings do get weaker and less frequent because I need to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have no intention leading the rest of my life feeling this edgy.

Read it a few times - safe to say it didn't work.

This is how I stopped about 18 months ago.
I had to go back to the book when I wavered once but it really was surprisingly easy.

Thanks for the update.

I assume they still sell alcohol? I also assume 'friends' who smoke will be at said pup nipping in and out for a cig? These combined may just lower your chance of giving up.

It's best to avoid the temptation.

Thanks for all the support. I don't suppose the mods will let me run a blow by blow account of my non smoking antics so "in before the lock" biggrin

Patch worked, no cig on the way to work and I don't usually smoke during the day which makes me long for the 5:30 cig. About 5 ish I really wanted something extra which is where the inhalator comes in, few puffs on that and I was ok, apart from the headache it gave me. Patch irritated a little and had a mild dead arm, made me lose my appitite eek .

Get this, in the group session today they asked people to pick a buddy. You are supposed to call each other on alternate days and give them support and encoragement. Not really my sort of thing, bit to touchy feely for me, then they say that you and your buddy have to put an amount each into an envelope and if either of you smoke you lose the lot eek

There is actually a cracking Irish girl in the group that I think is single, silver lining etc getmecoat
