Feel very very sorry for the parents. My daughter is currently do the same thing, staying in hostels around Asia. I cannot imagine losing her.

Certainly that is what the article suggests, though there appears to be no basis for this i.e. no suggestion he was under a mental health team's care of somesuch.

Don't worry. Easier said than done but she'll be fine.

Sadly the man who tried to save this poor girl has now died too.

"A British man who was injured trying to save a fellow backpacker as she was stabbed to death in Australia has died, Queensland Police has said."

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co.uk/news/am...

Meanwhile the mother of the girl thinks the killing had nothing at all to do with terrorism/religion.

"A British backpacker murdered in Australia will have a reading from the Qur’an at her funeral to counter the “misrepresentation” of her killing as an act of terrorism, her mother has said."

Oh, I know it is statistically very^10 unlikely - but it still generates some concern of 'wrong place, wrong time'.

So a fella stabbing people yelling Allahu akbar has nothing to do with religion.. Offff course not.

How inclusive.

Hopefully when the dull witted clot of a minister who suggested this insult picks up the koran to start looking for a suitable quote he will find out just how easily this sort of "misrepresentation" can come about.

First, the victim's mother, who has a fuller picture of the horrible event than you, thinks not.

Second, when you or I say "Cor blimey" we don't expect an imaginary sky fairy to swoop down and pluck our eyes out.

Third, let's try this:
1) All dogs have fur
2) Your pet has fur
3) Therefore your pet is a dog

There's no reason why a Muslim fella can't be a psychotic nut bag with a fixation for a beautiful girl just like any other psychotic nut bag. It doesn't make him an Islamist fundamentalist terrorist if he shouts allah Akbar, he's just a psychotic nut bag with a religious leaning that has lost his mind and his grip on reality. I do however hope he rots in jail forever though.

Allah Akbar is uttered/shouted by Muslims that are fighting ISIS in Syria when they attack as well. It's not purely a phrase used by "the bad guys".
