The daily mail would describe me as a 'recluse / loner / oddball' etc - in fact they did 14 years ago but less of that. There's even a disorder for it, called 'schizo personality disorder', of which I tick every box. That said I don't consider it a disorder because I like it. One of my contracts ended almost a year ago and I've only been outside for the essentials since (groceries etc), but I do like to go hill walking which is my main hobby. Naturally I do this alone. I spent most of my life alone so I don't know any different, I like it that way.

Since this is Pistonheads..... what do you drive?
I drive sheds mostly. Current one's a hefty diesel thing, not very PH to be honest. I like driving it but I really have to ring her neck to get her up to ramming speed. Based on that I've considered splashing out on a more recent, faster horse, but I've not decided which type yet. Get a motorbike. It's the ultimate loner way to travel. If I wasn't married with 2 kids, i'd probably be the same as you to be honest.
Is it that you don't like people or you've just conditioned yourself to be alone? Mine is definitely the former and as I get older it only gets stronger.

Me to! Been a loner all my life (even though I have been married for long periods). I currently live alone with two dogs and I find it hard to go outside now. I take the dogs out at 3-4 in the morning for longish walks when I know there's no-one around. I like being alone. Strangely, the few people who do know me reckon I'm really friendly and outgoing! I don't mind people as such, just want them in really small doses - less than 10 minutes is fine by me.
I think most people reckon I'm a weirdo/loner and that's fine by me.

How old are you OP, have you always been 'ahhheeem' single?
I have a friend just like this. The only way I can understand it is that hes certainly autistic in some way. Hes quite outgoing in social situations but has told me he finds it really draining and has to rest after being out socially!
Haven't seen him in years as I believe hes now really embraced life as a hermit.

Lifelong bachelor yes, 30 something. Doesn't bother me anymore. I have a friend just like this. The only way I can understand it is that hes certainly autistic in some way. Hes quite outgoing in social situations but has told me he finds it really draining and has to rest after being out socially!
