any dentists, am I in trouble?

I am sitting in the middle of a night shift and may have a problem!! I had the first part of a root canal/crown today in which the dentist drilled my tooth and then put the usual yellowish temporary filling material in the hole, he then absolutely coated the tooth with a clear glue like substance I have never had before?

Unfortunately for me I just started to eat my dinner (lasagne) and the clear glue type covering came off in one go!!! I cant feel any intense pain when I bite down but the tooth is bleeding a little around the gum.

Is this supposed to happen or not?? he never mentioned that it would come off but the way it has leads me to beleive it was maybe supposed to be there whilst the main/normal filling had time to harden perhaps??

Or should I be going back tommorow to have more glue type stuff put on again?

bloody closed til monday!!! bah, I will just have to be easy on it and call them then I suppose, bloody sensitive though without the cap!! glass of water nearly killed me!!
