Managed to pull something in my achilles area playing 5 a side and made it worse friday at circuits. Since Sat been very painful putting weight on the ball of my foot but heel is ok. Any twisting is very very painful.

Am limping badly and that is causing my hip grief as I over compensate. Am taking ibruprofen to help which tbh isn't touching it (400mg x3 a day).

Apart from rest/ice is there much else I can do? Is it worth a trick to quacks or am i just going to get rest/ice/anti inflammatory advice?

Sounds like you've twisted your ankle to be honest. If it hurts when on your toes but not heel down, I'd bet it would also hurt if you rolled your foot in or out. If the pain is up the back of the ankle on the achilles tendon, then it shouldn't hurt side to side (or not much) but should be painful walking down stairs - i.e. stepping down onto your toes and lowering your heel to the floor. RICE, ibuprofen after food, don't play sports or stress it out and go see a doc if it's not getting better would be my entirely non-medical don't come running (hopping?) to me if I'm wrong diagnosis.

I would add if it's the latter - i.e. up the back, be considerably more careful about stressing it out and definitely see a doc if it's still as sore after a week and not getting much better. Keeping a note of a pain level on a scale of 1-10 each morning, lunchtime and evening is a good subjective guide and will let you assess whether it's improving or not. A twisted ankle seems to heal OK most of the time, whereas achilles injuries have a nasty habit of reoccurring.
Thanks. It is very painful walking down stairs, stepping out of a shower is agony. Doesn't hurt rolling my ankle at all. On that basis I think it is my achilles which although is not painful to touch is very tight to the touch.

Thanks guys. It has begun to ease up a little now with the Ibru. Not seen the quacks yet but now home for the weekend will try an appointment.
