I posted in here a while ago about the possibility of needing all 4 Wisdom teeth removed, after seeing the dental surgeon at my practise he assured me at worst, only one would need removing, and it was the easiest one to get out... phew!

Fast forward a week after removal and I now have what is known as a dry socket. I'm in pretty much agony when I'm not on painkillers, I can't eat anything as it hurts so much to chew and bite down and I'm drinking everything through a straw. I currently suffering a really short temper, which even I'm shocked at how quickly I'm going off the handle at people.

So has anyone else suffered from this? How long does it last? I'm honestly really regretting having the tooth removed, and now feel incredibly guilty for being so happy about how easy the procedure went.

Sorry I had to share this, feeling thoroughly depressed as my family has a big do at the end of this week with will involved a couple of meals, I guess I'll be ordering soup. frown

10 out of 10 for the songs, about the only thing that's cheered me up.

I went back Monday, he cleaned it out and packed it with gauze that was coated in what I assume was Clive oil as it is beyond mank! Went back Tuesday and did the same thing, he said he'd only be able to see me at a late in Thursday. Yesterday afternoon the gauze feel out leaving me to spit it out as it was rancid. Since this morning I can taste that foul stuff coming from the socket again frown I think I'm back at square one!

I'm really glad now I didn't have all four out at once, but also really annoyed I had the one out at all!

Just got back, he was surprised it still hurt but saw that the swob of clove oil stuff had fallen out. He's re-packed the two root holes and made me an appointment for Saturday morning to have it reapplied.

The clove oil taste - while strong, is far more pleasant than that of the open hole!

Thanks for the replies guys, looking at a recovery period of up to 14 days with two day re-applications.
