...lots of clear liquid came down their nose?

I hit myself over the head with a XL post basher. This is the third time I've done this, but the other two time where just when it slipped out of my hand. This time I was bringing it down with all my might, caught the edge of the fence post and brought it down on my head. About 3 seconds after I had lots of fluid from my nose for a few seconds, which then eased off to a constant drip for another 60 seconds or so.

Phoned NHS direct, I didn't have any of the serious symptoms, but advised me to go to A&E to be on the safe side. Closest A&E is quite a way away, so I'm just waiting to see if I get any worse.

Not come across the nasal discharge before though, which was the only thing worrying me.

Are you sure its that bad?

The clear liquid didn't small, I didn't pass out, go dizzy, vomit or answer yes to any of the other NHS direct questions. They said I didn't have any of the symptoms that would cause concern, but to go to A&E just to be sure.

It was about 2pm when I hit it and I feel fine.

I suppose you are now going to tell me not to drink this tin of cider I just opened frown

Cerebrospinal fluid would be a sign of a serious injury, but that stuff is supposed to stink. What I had was runny snot, like what you get on a cold day or cry.

When I crashed the bike I went blind in one eye for about 10 minutes, bad headache and tinnitus for a week. I went back to A&E halfway through the week for a head x-ray, they found nothing. I hit my head a lot lot harder then (granted I had a helmet on).

Nearest hospital is 20 mile away, unless I go by motorbike or ambulance I can't get there and I don't think its serious enough for an ambulance. I'll get the train down there 1st thing tomorrow to be 100% sure though.

Done some more Googling and I'm pretty sure all I did was knock the mucus out of my sinuses.

That's 8 hours of my life wasted in A&E. Grandson wasn't happy as we where late for his birthday.

They said if it had been cerebrospinal fluid it would have also come out of my ears and I wouldn't be talking to them right now. Most likely drained my sinus, as I thought. Its the last time I listen you lot, you bunch of hypochondriacs wink

Not exactly, just said everyone I spoke to did.

They where very busy, ambulances where constantly arriving. Mostly kids or old people. One cyclist cut his finger, older couple whose son crashed his motorbike and one guy getting a ear bashing from his wife for falling off the shed roof rofl

I bet if it wasn't that busy I they would have probably done an x-ray to be sure.
