Tried a recipe from the last Mens Health this morning for breakfast. Well, tried to try would be a better description!

400ml milk
40g protein powder
tablespoon flaxseed oil
3 tablespoons oats
strawberries

I managed two swigs then the rest went down the sink as it was close to making me heave.

Anyone got suggestions for a more palletable version? I quite like the idea of fruit, protein and oats in the morning as I'd normally have porridge anyways. Just the very gritty texture of the blended oats and smell of the flax I think got to me.

(should have expected it with the flaxseed actually, linseed oil used to make my stomach turn oiling my cricket bat, duno why drinking the stuff would be any different!)

Good suggestions folks, cheers for that.

I'm a bit of a cheapo on the protein front tbh, just buy a few tubs of that half price stuff out Holland and Barrett usually but looking more in to it now that I'm looking at starting training.

Biggest battle is getting something in me in the morning that wont make me spew but gives me the nutrition I need. I'm not great for eating in the morning and early starts for work dont help either!

It's not the taste that gets me mate, it's just food in the morning. Strange I know but most things don't agree with me at that time, adding flax seed oil just pushed it too far hehe

The H&B stuff I can take no probs later in the day on it's own, which did actually surprise me. One scoop choc, one scoop plain.

The 2.5kg tub from myprotein does sound the better bet next time I'm buying though.

I've started trying to get up and force myself to at least have some toast before driving to work and I'm now adding a glass of milk.

I dont get on too bad with porridge just need to get my backside up in time to make it and eat it before leaving.

Thats why some form of smoothie would have been ideal. Up, shower, dressed, out the door, drink on the way to work.
