Interesting that people slag the Evora engine off compared with the Aston engine, considering the latter is about twice as heavy at a conservative estimate. About the last thing you want in a sports car.

and its a converted Jag engine c43
The usual one is that the Aston V12 is two mondeo V6's stuck together...
there's just no pleasing some people.
The Aston V8 is also an 'obsolete' Jaguar V8 although in recent years they increased capacity from Jag's original 4.2 to 4.7.
From personal experience neither of these is an issue. In terms of electronics the V8 is slightly more advanced but you rarely hear people who've driven either powertrain complain about them.

I met the guy who did the ECU programming for the V8 at the 'ring a couple of years back. He also did elements of the RS4/R8 engine for Audi. No-one complains about how that worked out.there's just no pleasing some people.

glad someone bit, would have been very boring otherwise.
I think for a front engined GT car like the Aston there is not much wrong. It is way too heavy but all that means is a bit more understeer (car ploughs straigh on in a corner). Lets face it when was the last time an Aston was driven hard, other than in a film.
However, in a mid engined car all that weight behind the driver would make for some very interesting motoring....i.e. terminal.
The Toyota engine in the Evora is not perfect but it is light enough not to upset the car balance and in superchareged form it is pretty pokey.
What sells the Aston in the looks, and even I can't argue against those.

2 points:
1) do you actually know what the weight of the Aston engines are? (and the Toyota for that matter)
2) if you looked at where the engine actually is in the Evora, you would probably not what to say what you did!
With 10k discount now looking realistic on Evora/S they're actually looking quite good value...

£52,390 still the wrong side of £50K IMHO...
Without hagglling....Realistically I bet the S is a sub 50k car now (people will protest but if you showed them the cash.....)
And that one had a Larini exhaust and Stratstone limited edition red & gold paint

2011 cars will be tough to sell.
Lotus dealer I went to on Sat has 2 (burnt orange, and metallic black) 2011 Evora S ... with 6k off stickers on each of them.
The burnt orange one was absolutely STUNNING. No longer a standard colour but available to order at 1.5k .. which is not that unreasonable.

you think???£1,500 to paint a car in a different colour? reasonable? no way!
they have to paint them in something, it's bad enough ripping you off for 'metallic' paint, but this is just taking the piss....
special paints are always more expensive whichever car it is. Some paints are more expensive to start with and the finishing more.
the Evoras are starting to look good value second hand. There is a strong argument that the S is the best Lotsu produced at the moment, regardless of the Ezige V6 which is totally a track too in my book.

I totally agree Scuffers. So called "Lifestyle" paint is a rip off at those prices.£1,500 to paint a car in a different colour? reasonable? no way!

I do think the Evora is fast becoming the secondhand bargain of the moment. Hardlines for those who bought new and want to sell.

we are not talking flip/whatever here, we are just talking ANO colour.now, if this was Ford or VW then I can see the problem as they are painting 1,000's of cars at a time, however Lotus are not, they are very much one at a time hand built.
