I don’t mind niggles, which seem to come as part of the package of lotus ownership, but the following is what wound me up!

Evora n/a - 2 clutch replacements within a year.

Evora s - catastrophic belt failure a day after buying meaning all pulleys had to be replaced. Then a gearbox failure and clutch failure within a year.

Both cars were driven nicely (according to ecu data) and purchased from a main dealer.

I’m sure it’s most likely just my bad luck!
I would chance it again as they are an unbeleivable car to drive in town, long cruise, B road or track. Harris was asked his view on one and it was 'how did they make such a good car for the money?' The engine and the gearchange is a bit st but not bad enough to annoy compared to the balance, unbeleivable braking, ride quality, looks (not for everyone), and the sound, the sound, absolutely awesome with the right 2bular kit.

The attention was a little tiring (even if mostly/all positive) and I would probably give a Porsche a try for something different next.

Yep the evora is a lot of car for the money, at used prices at least. Both performance and looks.

I’d consider another one, although not as a daily driver. Too much risk with not getting to jobs for me now sadly.

Definitely wouldn't want to lose it daily. I used mine for euro trips, uk trips, trackdays in Europe. Otherwise it would lose its appeal and is a little tiring. An auto anonymous box is better for the grind.

I did a couple of trips down to Croatia in mine. Well, I did one. The second one was when the belt failure happened at the start of the trip in Belgium. Rest of trip occurred in a b-class rental car. Not quite what was planned!

Indeed. I have a 335d auto now. Great for day to day and pretty quick too for an estate.

It went longer than 50k for sure. 50k is the point I sold it at. Its also more miles than say Ferrar360 with similar performance will manage on a clutch
Although with the 360 being an older car, you’d hope this was the case. Or I would anyway.
A new clutch in a 360 will not last as long as a new clutch in an Evora, by quite some margin.

What’s the average clutch life on a 360? (Not that I’m considering one!)

Funny how it varies. My 5 series and 3 series have been much more reliable.

Lower than the average evora clutch life then (but a lot more than I got!)

Good luck with your search for one

I`ve owned 3 different cars (S, SR. 400) over 6 years, used as dailies and tweaked with upgrades and had no issues of any note.
I owned your white EV430 S which suffered gearbox failure at 42k miles requiring a complete rebuild. To be fair the gearbox issue affected a very small number of early cars and later ones have a great record.

Shown as sold now but this one has been floating around for a while but in different ads. Not sure how I feel about the mods but that is a really cheap S. Almost too cheap.

I would be very interested in that if I was in the market. I think that looks great, but as always modified cars are even less easy to sell.

- Another price drop on the Sytner BMW car, initially £28,250, then £27,500, now £27,000. They still haven't managed to get any pictures though, suspect that's why it's not moving.
- Will Blackham has sold the orange one and the nice Aquamarine Blue one in Norwich has gone.

- Pictures of the Sytner car have arrived. White with black leather. Is it just my eyes or has it got the dashboard airbag cover issue (slightly)?
- The private sale in Devon has price dropped from £25k to £24,895 after less than a week on sale. Heading towards bargain territory but need to understand why it's being resold so soon (was on sale by a garage in Suffolk last month).

The market for Evoras is tiny as it is. No-one's going to buy one needing a clutch or with a faulty gearbox.
