Just you.

It's a quick car, but it's not ridiculously or scarily fast. 3rds good for 102 or 117mph depending which gear ratios you have.
Well....there are the stats which anyone can obtain and there is actually being in the car, on the road, with the noise, whizzing past other cars, in the driving seat....guess you wouldn't know lol.

150mph in an Elise - having owned an S2 with a stage 2 exhaust - would scare me to death with all that noise, rattling, vibration and bumps through the steering. Did 147mph in an RX8 though and it felt like it was cruising. In the Evora, for me, the scary thing is the kick in the stomach it gives when blasting off, the pace at which you catch other things up on the road, or run out of road before a bend! The ability to go from 20mph to 117mph without changing gear to break the momentum/revs is a sublimely ridiculous feeling. I'm not saying it is unique, or that other cars can't do this, but it's pretty special and i guess you have to own one and drive it daily to fully experience the full gamut of circumstances on the road that amaze you in terms of its capabilities. It did not blow me away on the test drive - the looks, badge and rarity sold me the car - but that was on unfamiliar roads, with a dealer and I dare not push the car. Now I have put 1000 miles on it and learned how and when to push it, I find it phenomenal.

you're all being ridiculous

'scary fast' is a valid opinion and simply a matter of perspective

I've had passengers who think my elise is 'scary fast' so why not an Evora?

most people think a hot hatch is seriously quick. If you've never been in anything quicker then an Evora will seem very impressive.
Cheers for your support The Pits - i'm just sharing my thoughts, feelings and experiences here - not inviting sarcasm from others - after all that's why we all love cars, beacuse they provoke emotions - glad you see where i'm coming from.

Well...as a wise contributer earlier pointed out...I guess its all relative and about perspective - I don't seek to be the guy on here that has the fastest cars or who has driven the fastest - the important thing is that 0-60 in 4.9 and good for 160mph + is fast to me and on the road in an everyday situation is astonishing and very enjoyable given the combination of the rarity, colour, bodywork, & speed of the Evora. It is faster than 999/1000 of the cars I encounter on a boring motorway commute each day, but compared to some cars on a race track may not be that fast.

not quite sure what to make of this?

beggs the question, what other cars have you driven?

acceleration wise the Evora is nothing special (my 4 door shopping trolley arguably faster).

as for scary fast, try this:

Nice vid...particularly the overtakes...which give a good sense of relative speeds. Wouldn't dare do that myself mind without a bottomless pit of cash in case I totalled the car - Evora is fast enough for me.

The Evora isnt what I'd describe as fast, never mind scary fast.

Most decent engined 3 series/Audis would probably keep it honest without much trouble in a straight line
Interesting...just got a top of range m sport 320 BMW as a courtesy car...no where near as fast on paper or in reality. Guess which evora spec depends on how fast....feels like a completely normal, even quite slow, car in Eco mode....but press that sport button and it totally transforms the car...not in a normal sport button way that makes only a tad difference like in most cars equipped with such things...not all evoras have this tho.

Audi TT I was considering was also rubbish and, after the Elise I owned, felt very slow and not sporty at all when I test drove it. Why are people in an evora forum dissing evoras anyway? I love it!

And therefore increases acceleration greatly, hence feeling much quicker and in reality being so as of the lack of need to change gear and drop your revs. It's a very different beast in sport mode.

No it doesnt. It will still do 0-60 or 30-100 in the same time, you just need to press the pedal less in sport
It will, however, go up to 117 mph in third in sport mode and revs of 7200rpm, whereas not in sport mode it will only go to 100mph in third, meaning, side by side, while the non sport car has to change at 100 mph (or risk blowing the engine) and meaning the revs drop right out the power band, the car in sport mode keeps pulling away. Amittedly, car two, with no sport, might catch up a little as the sport mode car shifts from third to fourth at 117, but the car in sport mode always has the advantage in a straight line. You are also forgetting unquantifiable factors that the sport mode brings, such as opening the exhaust valves that results in a sportier sound, all adding to the experience and perceived speed. It's not a £2500 option for nothing you know. Next you'll be saying there is no point in having the tech pack that brings full touch screen DVD sat nav, premium pack which brings full leather, or extra seats (though I might be with you on the seats except in terms of adding value when it comes to resale).

I'm on a 60 plate...exhaust note changes as soon as sport is pressed...even at low speed...so it's not the revs shooting up that does it either.

Ok, let's just clarify what the sport pack is. From the Lotus website....." Sports pack is available as an option on Evora (fitted as standard on Evora S). It provides switchable sports mode with sharper throttle response, increased rpm limit and sports DPM setting, Sports diffuser, Titanium sports exhaust tailpipe, Engine oil cooler, Cross-drilled brake discs, and painted brake calipers ". As I've said all along...it makes a difference and better brakes (as well as higher rpm) have the effect of making the car faster in a head to head as of the ability to brake later. Now could people who probably did not choose the sport option (and who are trying to convince themselves it makes no difference) stop trying to refute the irrefutable...lol.

You have an Evora 'S' then? As the N/A Evora doesn't have a valve on the silencer or even the wiring harness and actuator to cope with a valve(until MY12).

Also, £2.5k?. Sport pack is ~£1k

Edited by Dainty Ankles on Saturday 21st January 17:40
You're right...sport pack is £950. Six speed close ratio sport gearbox is £1450. That's where the £2.5K came from.

Was that aimed at me?

I have Sport Pack, and Tech Pack both which I think are must haves IMO.

I just don't like reading the wrong information you are typing wink
Nope...just sick of non evora owners having a pop when they don't know what they're on with. Some folks on here just wanna have a row.
